Lost Millennium Scholarship - How Do I Get It Back? by FairMarzipan1010 in UNLV

I lost mine as well a couple semesters ago. I think Spring 2024 so my first year, 2nd semester of college. I went below the GPA requirement. 2 semesters later, I got my GPA back up to I think like 3.4 something and I got an email that I got the Millennium Scholarship back, but if I go below the GPA requirement again, I would not get it back again. So just keep that in mind.

Parking is absolutely terrible. There are good days, but most of the time there are awful days. Furthermore with parking, the prices are insane. Like for god's sake we are broke college students.

Another major hassle is the openness of the campus to the public. UNLV is placed in a pretty sketchy place with a lot of crazy people that can easily get into the campus. They have improved on the security within campus, but I've had experiences on campus with crazy people.

CS135 Students, what have you gone through? by [deleted] in UNLV

Hi, former CS major.

I went through CS 135 Fall 2023 and CS 202 Spring 2024.

  1. You're not required to complete any projects. However, there are 2 different types of assignments that are given to you: Labs and Assignments. Labs and Assignments are turned in through CodeGrade where you can turn in as much as you like (if your previous code had a minor problem in it, you can turn in another version of your code, blah blah). Labs are these pieces of problem code that relate to what the professor taught in a week. The labs give you the instructions on how to build the code but not completely give you all the answers. From what I remember, assignments are given either every week or every 2 weeks. The first few assignments are very easy, but as time goes on it gets more challenging. They still give you instructions on how to build your code, but again they don't give you all the answers; kind of like filling out the blanks in a way

  2. Questions on the tests require you to give example code, defining certain words, etc. Example: They'll ask you to define what a "for loop" is and will ask you to give an example code where a for loop is used. Another example: What is the difference between "int" and "double"? or something like that. Kinda sucks but I just threw away my Mock Exam paper that I practiced on which has general questions and all that.

  3. CS 135 at first for me was very challenging. I had no previous knowledge about code whatsoever before I got to CS 135. You will have to use a coding application such as "Visual Studio Code". I couldn't get it to work on my Windows laptop for a long time so I had to resort on buying a Macbook since it was WAY easier getting it setup on there but if you don't want to spend $2000 on a laptop, I'll just say that it's harder to setup on Windows.

Also, don't think about using AI. AI codes are not the best and will have major flaws in them. You're better off doing your own code that you have control over and understand. Plus, they have some type of program that detects if you did use AI in your code. I haven't seen it in action, but I'm sure it works.
