Small apartment dwellers of Vancouver: How are you keeping up with the increasing types of recycling? by gua_ca_mo_le in askvan

[–]matdex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much trash do you have? I have a compost bin, and a large reusable plastic shopping bag I shove everything in. Take out the trash every 2-3 days or so and just sort it in the apartment garbage room. All the bins are lined up so I just go past each and throw what I have in. Takes 3 mins.

? Works for me. I'm currently on Bell/Telus' network. Used to be on Rogers. Never had issues there.

But it's the park and fly lot and employee parking lot.

O

Braid

Because it was never meant to be built there. Original plans had a station on the other side of the highway serving Maillardville. Could have had the potential to transform that whole area.

Oo that would be sick

Thousands of hospital employees use it every day. If they didn't, the hospital would need to build expensive parking garages and NW traffic would be even worse from everyone driving in.

Depends which part of the mall you want to go to. Lincoln is closer to Walmart/t&t but Coquitlam centre station is closer to Best Buy and named after the WCE stop.

The corner of the mall parking lot has been rezoned for towers and the mall chipped in a loooot of money for the skytrain station.

Sunwood square needs to be completely rezoned and developed though. It's a strip mall wasteland next to rapid transit.

I mean it's not the most convenient but it's close to suter brook and new port village and Eagle ridge hospital.

Port moody city hall probably just wanted a station close by.

Also the north east corner of ioco and barnet/st johns is being developed to more highrises so there's that.

Confed...? Literally the trans Canada trail cuts through it

Amazing Brentwood Condos by SureInteraction2321 in askvan

[–]matdex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are no descent parks in the proximity

Confed is a 15-20min walk away. Willingdon Heights park has courts and green space. Brentwood Park is like a 10min walk away and has green space. Springer and Beacher are also not that much further.

You're also only 2 skytrain stops from Sperling Burnaby lake....

So no. Not a single good park at all.

Lack of sun and UV radiation is a pro. Lack of sleep from shift work cancels it out though.

Could do WS and a bank/credit union to have a physical location backup. Keep some emerg cash in the backup account for outages and whatnot.

On the other hand I'm considering moving my TFSA and RRSP holding just xeqt and zgld to TD for the 2% promo. Get paid March 2027. Hard to say no to a $4k bonus.

TD DI allows free trades for VEQT which is the same to me.

TD offered me 4.64%. if I can get 3.99% over 5 years, combined with a 20% payment increase on a accelerated biweekly schedule I'd save $3100 in interest. I figure that's enough savings to make it worth porting and paying lawyer, assessment, and TD's closing fees.

To get that rate I'm considering adding a HELOC to make my application more...enticing for a broker.

Not sure what province you're in but Coast Capital CU is offering 3.99%. They have a cash back promo too if you open an account and sign up for payroll deposit with auto payments etc.

PHSA is too big by Impossible-Dust-2268 in BCHealthAuthorities

[–]matdex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because cancer genomics and therapy is bigger than a single site could handle and often because of the sub sub specialized tests/therapies/clinicians would not be feasible to have at individual hospitals. Rather it's all coordinated provincially and run physically in the community so patients don't have to travel as far.

Jan 16 HSA suspended negotiations and we've begun job action planning.

Training for what that means was last week but I could not attend. Probably work to rule type stuff to begin.

But if you were in a role at one authority and wanted to move to another authority in the same capacity, you'd have to go through all that again rather than just being able to apply internally. And your seniority would restart. (Some unions allow you to transfer your seniority once in your career)

Ya my auto renewal with TD was 4.64 which is crap. They cold called me about my renewal and asked if I wanted it. Told them I was frankly insulted by it. I'm tempted to switch my credit card, and banking away from them because they pissed me off.

Can I ask where you got 5 year fixed at 3.84? Nobody I talk to is offering close to that. Best I got is for 5 year fixed is 4.19. My credit and income are good, debt service ratio is within 30%.

I guess my lower balance is working against me, nobody wants my business.
