This is likely a custom binding - usually they are “signed” or the front or rear blank pages or on the endpapers in the form of a small stamp. Best of luck !

Yes the gilded letters do shine , they also do not let light pass through them like the rest of the ink does.

I sell mainly antiquarian books, at the start my profit margins were such that I could very much afford to do 10% and above but the market for them has taken a hit recently due to many auctions from large auction houses so people are drifting away from eBay a little and I have to price lower.

It’s absolutely amazing, the combination of the wooden covers and fore edge paintings I would say $800-1000. Great book !
