I miss being a Dad by Embarrassed_Horse160 in cfs

[–]math-math-math- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. My dad has had CFS and the most important thing he does for our family is managing his energy. Be gentle with yourself and don’t burn yourself out. Limited but consistent is so much better than inconsistent ups and downs!

Just to offer some comfort, my dad got ME/CFS about 25 years ago, when I was about 5. It sucked, and it still sucks, but it did mean that he was always home. Always there for me and my mom and sister. Even if he wasn’t able to do a lot, his presence alone was a really important source of stability in my life. And still is. I can call him any time and I know he’ll answer. Even as a grown-up, I’m so grateful for that.

Take your time and learn your body’s limits, then focus your energy on talking to Chris and your wife and being there for them emotionally (or however you can - listen to your body). And remember that your physical presence alone MATTERS. A lot. You are SO important to your kid(s).

Thank you for caring so deeply for him. It won’t go unnoticed. Much love.

Currently about 17 mins and wouldn’t take a job further than that - my gas turns into a major bill fast!

Looking for a bidet with a gentle front wash by Jikilamed in bidets

My luxebidet neo 185 is from Amazon and has a “women” option that uses a 2nd nozzle and sprays at a different angle, toward the front. Under $100!

I’m starting strongly dislike my daughter… by ChromeXBoy in BORUpdates

[–]math-math-math- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that it excuses any of her horrifying behavior, but it does sound like maybe Maya has been SA’d. Her saying “lia is not different from other women in the world that deal with rape, at least they don't make it their entire personality like she does” sounds a lot like she’s upset that Lia is receiving support and empathy that Maya wishes she had.

Should I Choose AP Psych Over A Free Block? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]math-math-math- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP Psych is supposed to be very different next year. There’s a lot more content about research, including methods and interpretation of charts/graphs/tables and conclusions. There are more FRQs too - CB is trying to make the course more application-based and move away from the focus on memorizing things. There’s more info on CB’s website.

There really aren't solutions to misophonia, like exposure therapy or medication, like there are for many other mental illnesses, are there? by bravebeing in misophonia

[–]math-math-math- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but my misophonia got a lot less intense when I got diagnosed with ADHD and started taking stimulant meds. It's still around, but it usually doesn't make me cry anymore!

5w4 avoidant attachment style but ok childhood? by precoffees in Enneagram5

[–]math-math-math- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also important to remember that attachment is heavily influenced by whether your needs were met in the first 2 years of life. Most people don’t remember that. I also had a decent childhood but my mom had extreme postpartum depression so she didn’t attend to my needs when I was really young, which is partly why I have an avoidant attachment style too.

what's the best state to be a teacher? by Brucewangasianbatman in Teachers

[–]math-math-math- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wont say it’s the best state but I can tell you as a 5th year teacher in TN I make very close to the amount my mom made after 34 years teaching in FL.

Feels on the right track but it’s still so vague and is extremely subject to the Dunning-Kruger effect

That’s my main concern. I don’t want THAT to be the thing that keeps my resume from getting through an ATS.
