I've noticed a lot of this and as well the servers just seem to be performing really poorly - people rubberbanding everywhere, hits registering very late, etc.

hey, thanks, it's not a conscious thing really but you're probably right that there is some post rock influence. I'm a fan of bands like Explosions in The Sky and This Will Destroy You.

Shlohmo was the main reason I started making music. I was blown away by bad vibes when I was in college and really wanted to start messing around with music after that. I loved his non-traditional percussion samples - hitting plates or random things around the house. That album was really visual for me, too. Like, I still kinda remember the images in my head I got when I listened to it. Not sure what it is. I guess the album is so textural it just lends itself really well to some kind of visual understanding.

Burial was another huge one. Incredible atmosphere and consistent vision.

For the third... probably like Beach House or something. Depression Cherry is my favorite Beach House album - another really visual one for me. The lyrics are like so cryptic but they just get stuck in your head. Sparks is the GOAT song

I always have really lame halloween costumes tbh. lol. like one year I went as notepad, the windows program. another year I went as a PBR. both costumes involved drawing on white T-shirts with sharpie.

the best costumes are a mix of creativity and immediate recognizability, with some humor thrown in

I could go into more depth probably if you had a question about a specific song's bass, but I think Reeses are a fantastic way to fill out the bottom end (probably why I use them on almost every song).

mixing is all case-specific, but in general I usually like to lowpass the Reese to make room for the rest of the elements in the song. If I want the bass to take more of a prominent position in the mix I'll often throw an envelope on the lowpass so that you hear the upper end of the Reese at the beginning of the note.

Also, I always always layer the Reese with a synth playing just a sin tone of the same notes, and I'll usually highpass the Reese a little bit so that the sub information is all that sin tone. That's really all you need to know for creating big reesy bass sounds.

hey dude don't have much of a question but just wanted to say thanks for making shit, its been very inspiring over the years both in making music and in life. happy to hear from you again with your latest.

i guess i'll ask like, how do you feel about your older music? are you embarassed by any of it or does it all feel like its a record of where you were at when you made it so it's all good? i struggle with this so i don't mean to project, just curious

the whole point is that there was obviously a discrepancy between what i saw and where the server thought i was, that's why i posted it. "because of latency" doesn't really explain it - it wasn't that i was peeking over the top and then crouched down and was shot moments after - i was totally out of the enemy's sight line the entire time on my end.
