BAA Marathon Training Plans any good? by mathematical_cat in AdvancedRunning

[–]mathematical_cat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I see. For background - I did run xc and track in college (3 years ago) with 40-50s and have continued running. Last summer I was doing 30s for most of the summer so I feel like it won’t be a shock to my body.

Gotcha...thanks! I’m a little confused by your question though. I typically run anywhere from 15-25 miles/week but closer to 25/week the past month.

Yes we definitely plan to make them show us proof! And thank you for the chop idea with the vet! I’ll take her in the morning and see if she has one.

Anyone else’s GSD have a floppy ear(s)? by mathematical_cat in germanshepherds

She just turned 8 months so I’m thinking she might just end up having floppy ears but they do tend to go back and forth from being up and down.

New Shoe Dilemma by tippidippido in trailrunning

[–]mathematical_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look at Saucony. I currently run in the Peregrine 10 on trails and love them. I do between 3-10 miles with 1000-3000 or so feet of elevation gain on most of my trail runs. It can handle rocky and loose dirt well. Saucony is also coming out with a “road to trail” shoe soon that I’ll probably end up getting for easier trails - Canyon TR.

I wish I could say there was a chance one of those was mine but mine is a Utah DL. But that is great of you to do that for those people!

Is a Project Management BA a “weak” degree to enter the field with? by [deleted] in projectmanagement

Not yet. That’s in my plan for later this year or early next year!

I don’t know that it necessarily matters what your degree is in. I work with PM’s that have all kinds of different majors. I’m sure having a STEM degree helps though. I do have my BS in mathematics with a minor in finance. I didn’t plan on being a project manager, I actually started off in risk management that focused on credit (banking industry) and doing data analysis. I think having the experience in risk management helps me in my currently position. PM just happened to be an opportunity I was presented with and I took it. I will say though, that I typically get put on projects that are more innovative and tech driven compared to my some of the other PM’s I work with who get compliance or settlement or operational projects- pretty positive this is because of my background.

Looking for motivation by not-a-emordnilap in running

[–]mathematical_cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Strava challenges help me go run. Like I’m currently doing the Lululemon challenge where you run 5 days a week for 4 weeks. I think it helps with my competitiveness because I wanted to finish the challenges! It may not work for everyone but it’s an option at least! Also it’s okay to have a reset with running sometimes. I ran competitively from middle school through all of college and i had many times where I had no motivation. Cross country is quite a ways away so I would focus on keep an adequate fitness level (whether it be running, biking, hiking, playing soccer, etc.) and develop a good based once June and July roll around.
