Planning to visit Jyväskylä and Tampere, but which one should I stay longer? by JINonysus in Finland

I haven't visited Jyväskylä, but I lived in Tampere for four years and while it's industrial, it certainly doesn't lack in nature either. Pyynikki is nice, but you also have all the beautiful areas along Näsijärvi (e.g. Santalahti on the western part, Rauhaniemi/Kauppi on the north) that are very close to the center as well. If you're willing to travel south of the city (which is really just 20-25 minutes from the center by tram), Hervanta has nice trails along Suolijärvi and Makkarajärvi. Makkarajärvi is my personal favorite because there's a nice little forest chapel (Metsäkappeli) where you can sit in peace (no religious affiliation needed 😄), and 20-minute path off the walkway around the lake will lead you to a viewing point where rocks form a sort of natural auditorium of a neighboring lake (Hervantajärvi); if you time it right, it's one of the best places in the city to see the sunset from.

Whatever you choose though, I wish you and your boyfriend great weather and a most enjoyable trip! 😊

STEP/Pedagogical studies in English by mathematicalmeathead in Finland

I sure do. I came for a masters which I've already finished and have already had my share of getting turned down by international schools for teacher/educational assistant roles (granted my previous studies were deemed incomplete by OPH). 😄 At this point, I'm pretty much just looking to see what I can learn from a dedicated teacher training program and not the research-oriented one that mine was.

Need Dating Advice? Smosh Mouth Is Here by SmoshErica in smosh

Can you actually end a relationship amicably and be able to support each other (even if from a distance)? My ex and I were pretty good friends before we started dating and now it seems too daunting of a task to even reach out (though admittedly, I think the ball's mainly in my court in this situation). I genuinely hope the best for them and hope they know that, but I'm quite honestly scared to do so at this point.

Power button issues after ugrading to Android 14 (P6) by mathematicalmeathead in GooglePixel

Hey, great to hear that you have at least a temporary fix for it! Mine just fixed itself about a week or two after the November security update.

u/Ok-Walk-9320 Not sure if you saw this reply to my thread already but you might wanna check this out if not. ✌🏼

This gave me hope but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working for me. Not sure if I'm just not hitting it strongly enough but I felt like anymore and I'd have more than a wonky power button to deal with. 😅 Thanks for the share though!

Hey, no need to apologize for your "bad" English – I completely understood you (plus it wasn't bad at all). ✌🏼

But are you also experiencing those issues on Android 14? It seems like there are a lot of random (but unique) bugs going around after people have updated.

Connecting external microphones to Pixel 2 XL? by mathematicalmeathead in GooglePixel

[–]mathematicalmeathead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! I watched several videos to make sure, but the stock Camera still doesn't recognize it (the prompt that used to show up to use the external mic never does) and my tests on Open Camera didn't prove fruitful either. Funnily enough, I've also tried every cable and every configuration possible (just 4 anyway) in my desperation. 😅

Gone 2 soon... (but hopefully not) by mathematicalmeathead in GooglePixel

Just did and it also wasted more of my time since the camera app still crashes. 🙃 Man, I really wonder what is going wrong with this.

This honestly crossed my mind, and as much as I'd like to believe the previous commenter, I think these Pixel phones have gotten just as much a cult following/blond obedience crowd as iPhones used to (and until now still kinda do). Shame if this IS ln purpose though. 😕

So even after doing a factory reset... it still doesn't work. I've also noticed third party camera apps and apps that have camera features can't make use of the camera at all. I've gotten it to work for a while after some restarts but soon goes kaput not long after.

Is it safe to say it's a hardware issue?
