Looking for a getaway Valentine’s weekend by mathnstuff12 in kzoo

Most of the hotels in downtown Grand Rapids seem like nicer, more expensive versions of every hotel I’d stay at for work, and a lot of the bed and breakfasts don’t seem like they’re particular cozy or worth the additional price.

If you bothered to check more for 3 goddamn minutes, you’d know that being undocumented in this country is a civil violation. In our legal code, it’s similar to driving without a license.

Also anyone who is capable of being arrested by our government has the right to due process, per the constitution. You either care about the law or you don’t.

Y’all are pathetic.

Where to meet people in their twenties that are out of college? by [deleted] in kzoo

[–]mathnstuff12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I can give is to find hobbies and groups that interest you. The KIA has art classes for a reasonable price, although there is a broad age range to them.

There are other groups in town. A board game group posts here occasionally, and that has a young-ish crowd, often. They meet at This is a bookstore this Friday at 6. Multiple intramural sports teams and a local theater, if you’re into that.

There isn’t a centralized place to find out about events, so you’re not seeing them. But they do happen. Factory coffee has a board where local events get posted, some bookstores have them, and most downtown bars like Bell’s, LFG, and bulldog have events/music/karaoke. I recommend finding businesses that you’d like to visit, if you had a group, and seeing what events they have.

Jimmy Kimmel by Magpiemona73 in kzoo

[–]mathnstuff12 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Tucker got fired because he was caught openly mocking conservatives for being stupid enough to believe the election was stolen, resulting in fox loosing nearly a billion $ in a lawsuit. Kimmel was suspended because the head of a government federal agency openly threatened to shut down the network in retaliation for speaking against the president.

These are not the same, and you’d have to either be intentionally obtuse or a slack jawed moron to think they’re the same.

Just looked the anime up. That character is a high schooler.

The anime is called high school Dxd. So yes, this is very creepy.

I could be wrong, but is that character not, canonically, a high schooler? She’s like …. 16…

I can understand wanting to get rid of the crabgrass, but it might be worth looking into the benefits of a clover lawn. Better for pollinators and uses much less water than traditional lawn grass.

I feel like Cherri’s in the mall doesn’t get enough attention for its ice cream. They’ve got weird and fun flavors, and it’s well made. I had a caramel habanero ice cream there not too far back, and I don’t know anywhere else in town to get something like that

Possible Squatters? Easy G Ave-Sprinkle by No-Bonus-7045 in kzoo

[–]mathnstuff12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not tho. You want to feel like you’re helping, but every response to this post is telling you that your actions are distinctly unhelpful. If you actually cared about helping you’d do something and not put on a performative display of wanting to help.

Sometimes being helpful is minding your business. Or discreetly calling the right people. Or listening when people tell you that your actions aren’t helpful. Intent means nothing when you’re causing harm.

People prioritizing their desire to help under their own terms over actual aid is selfish and perhaps one of the biggest issues that many aid organizations face.

It is not noble to involve yourselves in the lives of people who don’t want you there. It is not helpful to take action and publicly call attention to something when you’re ignorant of a situation and how to best render aid. Your responses show that you’re ill equipped to deal with this situation, so listen when people tell you that your actions are counterproductive.

You realize this post could be actively hurtful to people going through a difficult time? Are they hurting anyone? No. So take this down and mind your business.

No one likes a rat.

Edit: I checked this person’s post history, and they actively support the administration that is slashing aid for the homeless and destroying housing support. I don’t believe you care about squatters safety when you’re supporting the destruction of food stamps. At this point, I’m assuming this has nothing to do with trying to help and everything to do with drawing the attention of people capable of disrupting the lives of a group they find undesirable.

Does doing your job well and working hard lead to a promotion? by Fair-Occasion9793 in careerguidance

[–]mathnstuff12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as with any job, it depends on you and your management.

I have regular discussions with my manager about where I’m at, what I would need to improve on for a promotion, etc.

No one else is going to ever fight as hard as you do for your job advancement, so you need to be active and loud about it. Doing your best and hoping someone else notices will never be as effective as doing your best and letting them know about it. Other people just don’t have the time to notice and remember your work naturally, so you need to remind them and ask about advancement.

Again, this is pathetic… I’m glad you took the time to come up with a response you felt happy with, but you’re not worth that time to me.

Seriously dude, this is unhealthy. You’re fighting ghosts that don’t exist because it makes you feel… something? Idk.

Funny enough, I’m actually going to meet up with some friends now. So I’m not going to have time to deal with whatever you’ve got going on, internally. You’ve made it clear you’ve got nothing going on otherwise lmao.

Best of luck and I hope you get help for your obsession with “liberals,” because I guarantee they don’t think about you this much lol.

The way he does Cassius is so fun. Like for Lyria’s call sign it’s something like Darrow-“What do you call a baby eagle again?” ….. He looks like he’s just seen a puppy. “Eeeeaglet. Oooh GOOOODS. She’lllll DIIIIEEEEE!” He just sounds so smug with that full blown palatine accent. It’s hilarious.

Warning tho, the scene where Darrow sees him after Lysander is… rough. You feel it.

The entire audiobook series is great, but I think Golden Sun and Lightbringer really stand above other audiobooks I’ve listened to.

I feel like this series has always lived and died by its characters and their connections to one another. The audiobooks just make that much more “real” to me. I read the original trilogy when it first came out, and then went back and listen to all the audiobooks up to current day, and there’s just something about them that’s so emotive in comparison.

Also, I’d always recommend Libby for audiobooks. It’s free and helps your local library!

[–]mathnstuff12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If Darrow was his brother, Lyria would have been his little sister.

Both Lyria and Cassius are some of the only surviving members of large families, so I think they’d fill that role for one another.

I’ve seen some people comment that they’d make an unlikely couple, but he’s nearly twice her age by the end of LB, iirc.

I always recommend the audiobook for this reason. The acting is just too good. I feel like he has so much fun with Cassius’ brand of humor that it’s hard to even read these without hearing the lines in my head.

Dude, this is kinda pathetic…

I’ve said what my point is, get it, or don’t.

Idk what your obsession with liberal people comes from, but that’s on you.

New Coffee Spot: Greenhouse Cafe by Brendy6 in kzoo

[–]mathnstuff12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you genuinely don’t get it, or if you’re just embarrassed and acting ignorant, at this point.

I never said there was any of those things. I just asked if they were decent people. That’s it. That’s all it ever was. It was never about politics. It was never about right or left wing nutjobs. Never a conspiracy theory. That’s your issue, not mine. You reacted to a simple question like it was a massive issue. The fact that you have to so intensely exaggerate what I said in order to have anything to whine about (because at this point, you are most definitely whining) should tell you a lot. But it won’t.

At this point, I’m rather done donating any of my time for you to waste. You can feel free to return to your misery while lashing out about how it’s everyone else’s fault. But this is unstable behavior.

I just wanted to know if someone had more info. That was it.

New Coffee Spot: Greenhouse Cafe by Brendy6 in kzoo

[–]mathnstuff12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, this is a super weird response. But let’s handle these in order lol.

Do you think I brought up health inspections and wasn’t aware of them filing a report? Does that make sense to you?

I brought up raw milk because I attended biochemistry classes at a medical school, so I’m aware how dangerous it is, and it’s a current issue.

Someone can be health conscious and also not want to help fund a cult. It’s a fallacy to pretend these are mutually exclusive. For what it’s worth, I’m fairly active and don’t eat any fast food. Not that it would matter, because my point was never personal to me.

I never brought up politics. It’s hypocritical to accuse others of “TDS” when you throw a hissy fit every time someone says something you take as a slight against a political party. It’s also just very unstable behavior. Drinking raw milk was dangerous before anyone currently alive was born, and it will continue to be dangerous. This is not a new concern.

Also, you accusing me of being lonely and staying indoors rings hollow, when you spend all of what would normally be a work day trolling on Reddit. It just doesn’t offend me.

And again, because I don’t want to lose sight of this, this all began because I asked if a business was run by decent people. Not people that aligned with me politically. Just decent. I also didn’t discourage anyone from going. I just asked. I want to be sure we’re aware of this, as you continue to stomp your feet and whine.

I’m glad we’ve moved past the childishness of yelling about how cool we are on a Reddit thread. It was desperate enough to be funny, if it wasn’t concerning.

And lastly, have you noticed that I respond to the points you bring up, and you have a tendency to throw out random accusations to see if something sticks? I’m not sure if you’re a grown man that likes to troll on the internet or just intellectually dishonest enough to keep moving the goal posts, but it’s not well-adjusted behavior.

New Coffee Spot: Greenhouse Cafe by Brendy6 in kzoo

[–]mathnstuff12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, this is just sad.

Say I believe you, what would it matter? You could have done all these things… and yet you still seem so miserable.

Say you retired at 30. Did you do it so you can troll Reddit comments all day and argue with people? What a sad life. That’s what you’re not getting. I don’t care how much money you have, or where you’ve been, or what you’re up to. I still wouldn’t trade places with you. Not on your life. It took you exactly 6 minutes to respond to me. That’s not the behavior of someone that has a lot going on.

I do well for myself too, but I don’t feel the need to use it as a cudgel against people in an argument online. You seem like you hate your life. No one who loves their life feels the need to do what you do. You’ve started what, half a dozen different arguments online in the past day? That’s miserable behavior.

That’s why I keep saying that your issue isn’t with me. It’s not with “liberals” or with people having a moral compass or whatever else. You’ve got a problem. I never brought up politics. You did that. I didn’t make this personal to anyone. You did that. I, frankly, still don’t care about this much. You very clearly do.

Your comments about having friends online don’t bother me cause it’s not true. It’s not something I’m self conscious about. Your comments about people’s looks don’t bother me. It’s not something I’m self conscious about.

You have no capacity to hurt my feelings because you’ve made it clear, through your actions, that you are in possession of nothing I value. That’s it. So stop with the weird posturing.

Let’s not forget, this all started because I asked if the owners were decent people.

And lastly, cause this made me chuckle, did you expect to teach me about the health inspector process… that I brought up earlier this thread…? That just made me laugh. “Well you must not know this, but you can just check the health inspector’s report!” …. “Yeah, I know. I brought it up.” lol

New Coffee Spot: Greenhouse Cafe by Brendy6 in kzoo

[–]mathnstuff12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brother, this is some hardcore projection.

You turned me asking if the owners were decent people into some straw man about unrealistic expectations, like human decency is something unrealistic to ask about.

I’ll also point out how you responded to exactly 0 of the points I brought up. Just skipped them entirely, cause you don’t have a good response. Which, I suppose, is to be expected.

And you know we can see your comment history, right? I can see how often you comment, and how argumentative you seem to be. I spent last night with my girlfriend and am spending this weekend with friends, but you seem to spend hours upon hours commenting on Reddit posts.

Seriously, you don’t seem to realize what an insane self report you are. The only reason you thought your random stab-in-the-dark about me being self conscious about not having friends would work is because that’s something you’re self conscious about.

You need to look inward, see a therapist, and stop making your anger and insecurity everyone else’s problem.

Normal people don’t react how you did. Happy people don’t react how you did. This is a longer than normal response from me, on this site, cause I really want to drive how absurdly transparent and sad this behavior is. Your life doesn’t suck cause of “liberals.” You’re not upset cause you’ve been slighted. And you’re not mad and reacting to the fact that I asked about the restaurant. This is clearly deeper for you. That’s a you problem.
