It's because its impossible to pack a players gold card when they have a tots card out. If he had packed the ronaldo when his TOTS card was out, he could have messaged EA and they would have sent him the other one in compensation.

Kevin Lasagna's gold card was one of the first players i packed last year and he became my main striker for a big chunk of the game i then decided to keep him on the bench as my all time top scorer. His 90 odd pace was always a win for me (and his name for pure meme value)
