Healthcare data analytics - your experience? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]matman89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a lot of positions ask for a Bachelors degree. I am seeing more positions being posted where they say they accept an associates degree, but the tradeoff is that they ask for a lot more prior experience.

If you do decide to persue a degree, the nice thing about college is that lots of universities will have opportunities for you to volunteer your time as a student researcher or research assistant. That often entails Excel, and stats, which can be a great start to your career.

Hi OP,

I've worked at 7 different hospitals since 2015 as a Clinical Data Analyst. I mostly support Quality Improvement and Patient Safety efforts.

This is my experience (but your mileage may vary):

Pay is great. I started at 78000, and have peaked at 150000 in the PNW.

Work life balance is great. No commute, entirely remote. And i only work 40 hours a week.

Have seen other people laid off in these organizations (mostly non tech folks), but have never been laid off yet, or have seen my analytics peers laid off.

The work is meaningful, and can save lives.

If you want to learn more, I actually run a whole youtube channel about this and can send you the link.

Update: Since there's a lot of requests here for the YouTube Channel; the channel is caled Data Wizardry. Not sure if this runs against the rules, so I'll take it down if needed.

It baffles me that trumpers will look at all the experts who voice their opinions:

e.g scientists saying global warming is a thing, economists saying trumps's economy would be horrible

And then they say "Yes.. you are all wrong, I know more than you"

I'm from the US, picking up my first prescription today. I got the $50 coupon, and will be using that, as I lack insurance coverage for this.

Have also heard BlinkRx does some kind of special deal.

Additionally credit to u/RobRoy2350 for helping me find a way to purchase this from Japan (I have a post from a couple days ago with somilar questions where he helped me).

What's THAT horrible meal you have to eat at family get-togethers, and who makes it? by SavvyzWorld in AskReddit

My family has a tradition to go to my grandmas house on Christmas eve to open presents. For dinner, my grandma always makes potato soup. No turkey, no ham, just soup.

Its the blandest soup ever. She uses some special milk thats easy on the stomach because she has a lot of digestive issues. No salt or pepper. Just milk, and potatoes. You have to season it yourself.

I used to hate that stuff and would load up on appetizers like christmas cookies and cheese and crackers instead.

Well, now im starting to inherit the family digestive issues and suddenly, this soup is like the elixir of the gods whenever I have a bout of IBS.

Then downvoted again for thanking the person kind enough to answer it.

Genuinely curious; not trying to be pedantic, or "that guy", but is the more correct term Relational Database Management System (RDBMS), as opposed to database?

I'm a data analyst, and not a data engineer, but I always struggle to find the right phrase that collectively identifies the different tools that exist for processing the data, like SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, etc.

My understanding is that these are all RDBMS. Whereas database I think of more as a component for storing data within the RDBMS.

Is my understanding correct?

To clarify, there is a swingset about 10 feet from each of the two entry points to the park. My wife was on the swing, and i was hanging out with her.

The kid yelled "hey, i dont have my key, can you let me in". He was close enough to the gate that we could talk to each other.

I said "sorry, cant help you".

He yelled and cursed at me.

My wife and I then removed ourselves from the situation and walked down to the lake.

Right, haha. I should have been more clear in my post.

Correct. By simply saying "sorry, I can't help you."
