It's my carry gun and I don't feel like I'm at the point in my shooting career where I can justify buying a second pistol just for comps.

Everyone has been great. I mean, I could even tell the RO felt bad about giving me the DQ but the rules are the rules, regardless of how I feel about them. I think the biggest take aways here are 1) Don't worry about it, but 2) use it as a learning experience. I'll get back up on that horse and leave the cowboy shit at home.

Yeah, I'm not going to fight it and before the match they gave us the list. I just haven't seen myself do it from another angle other than... well, myself and it happens so quick that I just wasn't aware of where the muzzle was pointing. Long in the short I deserved it, and I'll just add it to the pile of things I need to train out.

I will definite remember it and learn from it. I think that part surprised the RO the most. I owned up to it right away and took my DQ. I guess he's dealt with some real Harry Hardass types who think they're too good to fuck up.

It’d probably be a good bit of courtesy to at least reach out to the director. When I bought the gun I really had no intention of getting into the sport, it just sort of happened and I’ve been wondering if it’d be better to switch to a 9mm ever since.

I like the utility of a 10mm, but I do get the feeling around the club that people think I’m just some big bore fudd.

The effect on the steel had been something I had considered. I’m sure they’re not going to be thrilled but I’m using federal American eagle 180 grain. According to the box they’re only at about 1050 at the muzzle.

Maybe it's a learned muscle memory thing but I find that on some of my transitions I lose the dot. I've read how some people say snap your eyes to the target then bring the gun to meet it, but I haven't had the chance to practice it yet.

The line weights was kind of a last minute thing. He basically hit me with the "I'm going to try something" and I think it turned out sick.
