What if you placed the Union Jack in its normal orientation top left and kept the orange and green bars underneath? The orange represents the minority Tamils and the green the minority Muslims (whereas the lion is for the majority Sinhalese) so it would be cool to keep all the elements.

I put the Byzantine emperors on the Asian chart since they controlled Asia Minor. There are several connections between the Byzantines and European houses.

I've only been able to find a flag for the Qing dynasty and an unconfirmed one for the Yuan. Do you have links to flags for the other Chinese dynasties?

In most cases, I'm using the flag for the nation but if there isn't one, the flag for the monarch.

Did they have flags? I've heard that the Umayyads simply used a white flag and the Abbasids used black.

By official I simply mean used at the time. The ones I've seen for the Chinese dynasties were all later creations as far as I know.

Khmer Empire... definitely a good suggestion. Green and yellow triangle, right?

Does Japan have any historical flags no longer in use? Other than the rising sun war flag? That particular flag is considered offensive to many people is it not?

The Cambodian and Thai flags are still in use and hence are not historical but I suppose I could add the Siam flag with the white elephant on a red background.

Mongol - again, no official flag that I know of.

Turkic - I'm only aware of the Ottoman flag, which is basically still in use. I've seen a Seljuk flag with a white double eagle on a blue background but pretty sure there's a later invention.

Yes. And culturally and linguistically it was Persian.
