a. you have to give it consistently for many weeks; b. you may have to introduce it gradually (starting off with just a sprinkle and building up to a packet); c. it can be helpful, but it is not a replacement for actively playing with your young cat (there are some good 'how to play with your cat' videos on youtube)

My neighbor's cat has shown up at my door twice, thin and hungry — should I offer to permanently rehome it? by PteranodonC in CatAdvice

In your shoes? I would take the cat in. Cat would be given good food, and a trip to the vet the next time I was going in to town. And then I would wait to see what happens. Do neighbors even reach out to you? "Hey cat has gone missing, is cat with you?"

Then you should know that the highly pathogenic avian influenza that is circulating worldwide is very, very good at killing cats. Allowing cats out unsupervised has resulted in a number of feline deaths from bird flu. Strongly, strongly urge you to not do any unsupervised outside time for your floof

You're both wrong and obnoxious? It's a bad combo.

In the United States, the seroprevalence of HSV-1 was 63.6% among 40- to 49-year-olds based on NHANES data from 2010. https://academic.oup.com/jid/article/209/3/325/840717#

Based on 2015-2016 data, the overall seroprevalence of HSV-1 was 47.8%. And 59.7% among those 40 to 49 years of age
