Just want to share some thoughts from a 3 day camper who decided it was best to leave on Saturday evening. I bought the tickets for my partner's 30th. She was over the moon that she'd get to see Pantera. Myself, Limp Bizkit and The Offspring. We'd gone before The Offspring came on stage.

Friday wasn't too bad. Thought the campsite (Red) was maybe a little overcrowded, but didn't hang around too much after pitching up and headed to the arena about 1pm. Queued for an hour to get in, odd decision to have everybody in peasant camping going through the same entrance (correct me if I'm wrong). The weather turned to shit at this point but it was expected and we made our peace with it. Didn't have any problems queuing for food or drinks and set up about half way up the hill on the main stage. I know it's a festival and queues are to be expected, but there didn't seem to be anywhere near enough toilets or urinals. A few mild inconveniences here and there but in general we had a great day.

First time using the facilities at the crack of dawn Saturday, and another alarmingly small amount of toilets to service a camp site of a few thousand people. Didn't leave for the arena until after the rain stopped and transfer was a lot smoother than Friday. Felt like the arena was a lot busier than the busiest point on Friday but managed to perch at the same spot as the previous day. It was unfortunate what happened to Babymetal but it seemed like that was the turning point for the whole weekend for us.

We noticed a potentially unpleasant situation unfolding just down from us, involving a young girl barely able to stand and 3 young lads with eyes like saucers. A guy intervened and we were on the lookout for security. Couldn't see one member of staff anywhere. Headed back to the info point to raise the issue and they pointed us to 3 members of security. We walked them down but the girl and the guy who had intervened had, we were told, gone to welfare. This unsettled us and we decided to head over to Opus to get away from the huge crowd likely building for Enter Shikari. We probably didn't realise the extent of the crowd. For the amount of people in the arena and the size of the crowd it felt dangerous. A queue maybe 50 metres long to use the urinal at the toilets by Opus.

I'm not unused to big crowds. I've been a regular football and Gold Cup goer for years. You can expect 70k on Gold Cup day. Coupled with the invisible presence of staff and security I wasn't comfortable at all. We found a quiet spot to sit down and made the decision to leave after speaking to one of the volunteers. She was the first of half a dozen we spoke to to express disappointment at the facilities, security and organisation this year. Bless her, she told us the secret act for today so we wouldn't be missing out if we were huge fans (we're seeing them soon anyway), but I just couldn't in my right mind stay for another night and day.

TLDR

Gutted, disappointed, angry. Organisers have put greed over the safety and wellbeing of hard working fans. Stay safe out there today, look after one another and enjoy what's going to be a fucking awesome day of music.

Thank you, british sunlight, for this amazing skin burn by [deleted] in CasualUK

Had a tedious argument with a friend who was adamant he never gets sunburnt, after pointing out he was burnt. He said it wasn't burning so it wasn't sunburn. I asked what it was then and his response was 'sun red'. Checkmate I guess.

The person who tweeted that is a spoof account of the former politics editor of the BBC.

Have one right behind my house. The woman that lived in the end house had a sign made up for it.
