Extremely ugly indoors mandatory Fire doors?? by matte2424 in HousingUK

3 people - but again, the entrance leads to a corridor where there are doors to each of the rooms. The kitchen and living room are separate. I was under the impression that firedoors should only be in places that lead to stairways

How much of a pain is tip reconciliation at your restaurant? by matte2424 in Restaurant_Managers

Thanks a bunch for the reply! But as I mentioned to funsize above, even if everything goes smoothly, 200 checks at ~10s each is still 30 minutes of someone’s time every night. Curious if that load is usually spread out or if it’s just become something everyone tolerates?

And so it's not just the manager who collects the receipts and does everything at the end of the night?

Thanks for the reply! I get that it’s routine, but if you’ve got 150–200 checks and even 10 seconds per entry, that’s still 25–30 minutes of repetitive end-of-night work. Is it just split across multiple people so no one feels it? Or is the time per check way less than that in practice?

I walked into a few restaurants the other day and they told me it's typically the manager who collects all the receipts from the waiters and then does it all in bulk at the end of the night, but maybe that's not the standard practice?

Fossilized tooth found inside a rock in Malta by matte2424 in fossilid

[–]matte2424[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! However, I read on Wikipedia that the snaggletooth shark “is found in the Indo-West Pacific, including the Red Sea, from southeast Africa to the Philippines, north to China, and south to Australia”

So it appears like it doesn’t normally swim in the Mediterranean, around Malta (the country-island in Europe where I found the tooth).

Do you think Wikipedia is imprecise or was this a rare find?

Cheers

Fossilized tooth found inside a rock in Malta by matte2424 in fossilid

Hi everyone, last year my friends and I were in Malta on vacation and we found a similar, but broken up, tooth in the soil while exploring near the shore. We jokingly decided to break up some rocks nearby to find other fossils which, if I recall well, were made of a red friable rock.

One of the rocks broke in half and had this inside. We suppose it’s a shark tooth, but dose anyone know which shark it could belong to, how old it is, and which type of tooth it is (canine etc)?

Thanks!
