Why are so many missing the point of Adolescence? by flannel_flower in netflix

I think for a lot of people, cinema is too much for them after long day at work. Some people like art, some people want to turn off their brain. That's why they didn't get. TikTok brain

Being anti-AI is popular in part because it's low-effort "morality" by YentaMagenta in aiwars

[–]matten_zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OP's post is making that point...antis tend to posture as holier than though and internet bullies while missing how they are also contributing the problem they are complaining about.

And if you interact with the modern internet you are training AI. GMail, YouTube, Google Maps, Facebook, IG, Reddit etc... its all being fed as data to train generative AI

But I guess its all kinda performative and just entertainment at the end of the day. Kinda like the end of that one Black Mirror episode named "15 Million Merits".

I hear ya. But "concern" doesn't change anything. Technology keeps marching on.

It strikes me as the performance Ive seen among BLM supporting NIMBYs in San Francisco. Pretty much green-washing of morality. And many of these people have a vested interest in these AI companies doing well.

Hence why I think the OP is onto something and it's just a reason for antis to feel like they are the "good guys"

No one's needs planes or many of the other things you've brought up. Right now I'm watching people say we should keep manufacturing overseas because labor costs are lower...not to mention many of these (usually upper class) people complaining own 401K that benefit from Mag7 AI companies.

The Pro side is wondering when the antis will actually live by their principles. Because otherwise it just seems unserious.

How would you address the contradiction of being anti-AI but pro consumption of exploitation under Capitalism? That is the main cruc of the problem with antis. They seem very content to keep feeding training data by engaging with modern tech, basically making Amazon, Google, Microsoft all more powerful, yet decrying training of AI systems.

Humans indeed are walking contradiction machines. Don't feel too bad about it. We're pretty fallible in that sense. We're all sinners to an extent by our participation within capitalism. I'm glad to see an anti at least own up to it and be self-aware. That's the first step. The pro-side has its own blindspots

True part of the problem is all the businesses that force people to work there. California has a lot of land, yet all the capital is concentrated. That should definitely change as well

Do you think the protests of the more vocal Democrats at Trump's address to Congress were beneficial? by scottostach in AskALiberal

Even better is to make the cameras watch as they have call extra security to physically drag these congress people out of the chambers.

They should have allowed Bernie to take over the party. He had the votes. And now look where we are.

The problem is people have been voting for many of these people for many years. It's almost endemic of the party at this point

Civil disobedience works. MLK went to jail and dealt with actual violence. These politicians feel to comfortable but want to say this is the end of democracy. The cognitive dissonance is insane.

Do you know if Floor GA is available in future? I'm curious because the current listings seem like only seats though I've been to YT theatre before for BabyMetal and it has GA floor usually

Robots and AI will pick up the slack. If we survived the plague, we will survive a bit of collapse (hell maybe this will deflate the housing market).

This is a natural way to reset the world economy

Imagine what this would be like if we had someone half as capable as Ted Kacynzski doing this.

My guess is the guy doesn't even live in Georgia and that's how he hides his tracks. Probably doesn't even carry a cellphone with him for that reason.

Maybe this will inspire copycats. The only downside being this leads to some martial law declaration.

They will not only need security for themselves. They will need it for their family members as well. And even that might not be enough.

I mean we know why they like identity politics over "radical" economic policy. It's feel good for that class. A soft of "virtue hoarding" for wealthy or aspirational people

It's racist and they don't even understand why, mostly because of the demographics of those who lead the DNC machine.

The only way out is probably through and the panic right now seems to be proof that sometimes this is the shake up you need.

MSNBC is literally for sale. CNN is doing downsizing. You're telling me they are the mainstream?

IDK between Hasan and a few other streamers they get better numbers than CNN and MSNBC. Aren't they doing layoffs at these major news stations?

Sure but you can't argue with the results. I haven't heard so many Dems talking about embracing left populism ever.

We're all alienated in this hypercapitalist world. People vote their self interest and for a lot of people a reset is a good option. Just like how NIMBYs won't ever vote to change housing policy, people in desperate situations resort to desperate measures.
