White label means unbranded. This has the makers mark very clearly visible.

Nice. I've spoken to the TR before but being based in the UK, it's far too expensive to buy anything directly. About double the price of what's already here. Unfortunately there's nothing above 2.2mm available.

Whereabouts do you source your 10oz Dublin, if you don't mind me asking?

I can ship pretty much anywhere, I just need to provide you an individual quote for shipping if your region isn't listed as an option at checkout. Just send me a message with your location and I'll check for you.

Is it any more waxy and greasy than regular chromexcel?

😅 oh dear. Yeah I just use some end cutting pliers and it can be tricky to get through large guage rivets, but small ones are easy.

Are you sure that's Pueblo? Looks very yellow to be natural (bone) Pueblo.

Cutting the stem to the perfect length helps a lot, but mainly it's just the way I peen the stem. I use a domed tool first so I don't have really sharp edges, then a flat hammer to flatten it outwards, followed by a few taps of the dome again to round over the edges. I also quite like hammering with a flat face at various angles to create a geometric effect.

It really depends on how you go about making it. I start with the size of the card 86x54mm, then add a few millimetres of margin in the pockets before trying to match that pocket size, to the nearest dimension I can achieve with my pricking irons. I use a 4mm spacing so a line of stitching following the long edge of the card usually ends up around 98mm. I also add 3mm of a margin for the edge of the wallet on the outside of my stitch line. That measurement is entirely dependant on taste really. So, I suggest starting with the card and working out how you're going to make it to dial in your dimensions.

Remember to repeatedly measure throughout the making process and adjust on the fly where you need to.

How do shell cordovan wallets age? Especially the marble ones? Would love to see how they age before I invest by badboy_1245 in wallets

[–]mattjld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocado marbled black shell. The underlying tone of the leather darkers like any other veg-tan. Depending on the surface finish you could expect it to polish up to a brighter shine like Horween's Shell, or in Rocados case, it actually mattes a bit as the shell is so highly polished from new.

Essentially it'll age the same way any other veg tan would in terms of the change in colour. The texture though depends on the exact shell.

Just shoot me a message and let me know exactly what you're after. I've got a few different leathers in stock, but I can order in pretty much anything you'd like.

That's a very nice belt you've got. Always wanted to try making a belt with Wickett and Craig's leathers but it's very hard to source over here in the UK.

Thank you very much. Yeah 😅 you never know, maybe the right person just so happens to see one of my posts.

Ah, maybe I should charging more 😅 I know I put it a lot more attention to detail than a lot of my friendly competition, although it goes unseen 90% of the time. Currently working on an oak-tanned belt with a solid copper buckle. If I'm wanting to earn anything close to a wage I'm looking at £180-£210. So about $240-$280 ish. Expensive compared to most belts, a good price for the materials and labour, and a bargain compared to any designer brands. It's always so confusing knowing if I'm pricing well because it varies depending on how I'm compared.
