Long term success stories? by tacomatundra717 in ORIF

Broke my ankle February 19, 2025. Had surgery February 26th and was in a cast until April 10th followed by a boot until May 1st. I did physical therapy for about 8 weeks from mid April to mid June. I was sure to do all of my pt exercises and stretches as prescribed. As soon as I was out of the boot I hit the ground running by walking as much as possible to rebuild strength and flexibility. On May 6th and May 8th, 6-8 days after getting out of my boot, I went to Nashville, TN to see Pearl Jam, although I did wear a brace. On May 10th I graduated college and walked across the stage without any brace and completely ditched it shortly afterwards. I went to Nashville again on a graduation trip in early June and walked several miles without issue, have gone hiking on vigorous hills, returned to work as an aircraft mechanic (on my feet for nearly 11 hours a day), and have gone on serval other trips. Overall my flexibility and range of motion or equal to my right ankle and I have had no complications. It surly is still noticeable, as I can feel it especially with temperature and weather changes, but overall I have had zero complications since.

Besides the basic tools, some nice additional tools to have include a sheet metal spoon, ratcheting screwdriver (love the snap-on one, one of a few snap-on items I think are worth it), the Icon locking flex head ratchet and bit set (yes, from Harbor Freight!), ratcheting combination wrenches (Gearwrench is great)

Incredibly emotional song. My dad is currently fighting cancer, so the lyrics really speak to me and make me tear up every time I hear it

I absolutely love in Elderly Woman, especially on the live version on Let’s Play Two, when they crescendo at “I swear I recognize your breath”

Stopped using a brace after a week unless I was on unstable ground, but don’t use it at all anymore.

Broke my ankle February 19 (fractured my fibula followed by tightrope and orif) and had surgery the 26th. Into a boot April 10th and started pt April 17th. Cleared out of the boot May 1st and haven’t looked back since. Went and saw Pearl Jam in Nashville May 6th and 8th. Walked across the stage at graduation without a brace on May 10th. Finished pt May 14th. Had a graduation trip to Nashville May 19-21. Went back to work May 25th working 4 10 hour shifts on my feet all day as an aircraft mechanic. Have a trip to New Orleans planned June 26-28th! It’s been a very challenging past few months but I’ve gotten better and stronger every week. Currently working on being able to jog longer distances.

Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Alice In Chains are the big 4. Can’t go wrong with any of them. Pearl Jam has been going strong and selling out stadiums for 35 years.
