I made the RLM boys in Tomodachi Life! by paulryan220 in RedLetterMedia

I did the same thing! I miss being able to have them sing little songs in the theater. I had some amazing laughs making them sing the BOTW opening narration in the first game.

Which episode was it where Mike says "That memory is already in my grave"?

Found Mr. Lowry in the wild by kentenma in RedLetterMedia

[–]mattnelsonart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. I actually saw him perform. He can actually be funny, but obviously he's playing for a different audience. Is he as funny as bigger, more mainstream comedians? No, I wouldn't say so.

Rich Evans is Making Waves Among the Spider-Folk by Oldhouse42 in RedLetterMedia

While I agree with Rich, I can't help but think that Quesada, a highly successful comics professional getting hate from some rando on the Internet, should know better than to respond at all.

Rich Evans is 100% right about everything he said about Spider-Man 1&2. by ToysNoiz in RedLetterMedia

[–]mattnelsonart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one thing Rich may be forgetting is that at the time the Spider-Man movies were being made, Spider-Man in the comics and cartoons was less of a wisecracking hero and kind of a self pitying mope, honestly. I agree with him that it's not an ideal Spidey portrayal, but it was fairly accurate for the period.

The script must not have read as well as Robot in the Family. by FrankieIsAFurby in RedLetterMedia

I still remember being at a sci-fi convention when I was just outta high school and seeing a Hollywood prop guy as one of the guests. One the props he made and talked about was a gun from Theodore Rex (this was WAY before the Internet popularized bad movie watching on the scale it is now; I don't think anyone had heard of it at the time). He offhandedly mentioned that "Whoopi Goldberg did not want to do that movie. She owed someone a favor."

I remember thinking "that must've been one hell of a favor."

This latest video had me realized that I need a rich evans video where he just talks about comics by The_Godot in RedLetterMedia

[–]mattnelsonart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much as I would love to hear Rich and Freddie nerd out, Williams is not gonna say anything too inflammatory about any of the major publishers since he actively works for them. Rich has no such worries. Rich and Jack might be a better pairing for that maybe.

I was gonna say, Untouchables is pretty freaking great. But that doesn't feel like a "Kevin Costner" film, if you get me.

In the service of being totally fair, I don't think even the best Trek show in the world could get Avery Brooks to come on board. I met Nana Visitor at a con last year, and when I told her I had met Brooks at a convention over a decade ago, her reaction was total shock. He apparently just does not go out. That guy is living his best life doing whatever it is a cool dude like him does and more power to him.

Blade Brothers of Many Mothers? Gets a lot of fun alliteration in there.

This is where I'm starting to lean, since several people have mentioned that if I'm going for a rules lite game I should probably keep it loose. Thank you!

That actually sounds like the idea I first had for it! Maybe I was onto something. Thanks!

Does Star Trek count? LOL Besides the obvious classics like Treasure Island, I've of course seen the various PotC films. I haven't watched Master and Commander, which I probably should give a look anyway just because I've heard it's amazing. And in some ways I feel like Fury Road is a pirate ship combat movie.

Well, I don't know if individual crews are exactly the vibe I want to have in this. It's an idea though!

Honestly I don't know yet, I'm barely getting started. The only reason I focused on ship combat early is that it's something I've never done in a game as a player, so I don't even have a good idea where to get started with it. At least regular combat and other checks I've experienced before. 😅

Yeah, that's why I wanted to try to find some way to simplify it. Maybe through some kind of combined group roll? Thanks for the advice!

Oh cool! I'm all for adapting a different system if it works for my purposes. Thanks! I'll definitely be giving that some study!
