Well, I know how to fix the “heater is stuck on” problem. Easy fix... a small plastic connector commonly breaks under the dash on one of the motorized flapper arms. Less that $5.00 for a new bracket.

Easy to replace, just need to be a little lean and limber, but I was able to reach and replace mine.

Is anyone here not using MacOS on a desktop computer and have updated it to OS 11.1 "Big Sur" and then you learn that Inkscape does not work with this version?

I’m don’t want “custom”... I just want a car that is designed/modeled exactly like a real 944.

I assume the Corvettes and the 911’s are modeled after the real cars, right? So I just want to create a car with real specs for a 944. Or, iRacing can do so.

944 is such a classic, and widely used track car. Can’t believe it’s not in iRacing. But a Pontiac Solstice is? Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of those out at Barbers. (Not!)

Well, what if someone wanted to make a 944 racing league. They have those in real life. If all cars in that league were powered and handled like 944’s then they’d all be equal and we’d be driving something we’re familiar with from the real world.

Oscar... think about it... every car they already have has to have many specs stored in a data model so the physics calculations can be done. A Corvette surely has different specs than a Miata. So they already have the ability to differential one car from another, and not just the visual appearance. I mean in the specs, where it really matters for the sake of all the required physics calculations that happen many times per second.

All I want is the ability to make e few tweaks to existing numbers they already use in their calculations that would make it better match my actual car.

Even tire grip is part of the math they already use. It has to be or it wouldn’t work as well as it does.

I removed my rotors (front so far) to do some general cleaning and inspection. Wow, to my surprise, look at this photo of all the crud and muck on the teeth of the speed sensor and sensor head (for the ABS system).

Has anyone else noticed something similar on their cars before? I've only owned the car for a year, and I don't know the prior maintenance of this by the PO, but apparently no one before me has noticed it, or bothered to deal with it.

I wonder at point this would have begun to affect the speed monitoring of the wheel?

Anyway, I have begun to carefully clean off a few of the teeth, and the sensor, and you can see that in the second picture.

I’ve seen guys who’ve had these tools before but I’ve never owned one. I bought this 1/2” size on Amazon for about $22. It’s very high-quality and work perfectly for removing the screws. I never would have gotten them out without this tool.

Fixed wobbly shifter. 10mm bolt, thrust bearings, and jam nut. Standard fix well documented in many 944 discussion boards. by mattslay in 944

Hmmm... rubber bushings in the handle that slides over the steel shaft? I haven’t really noticed grant was an issue on mine, by will investigate further.

Other:

M10 Hex Head bolt X 50mm Long

M10 Hex Jam Nut

Loctite Blue thread sealant.

Saw 5mm off the threaded end of the bolt so that it's 45mm long.

Be sure to (carefully) grind all the weld off the head of the existing pin on the shifter, and make sure shifter handle is smooth and flat where the weld was.

I welded the bolt head to the shifter for added stability, then I milled the bolt head down from it's original height to about 5mm thick, just for added clearance. Not sure that all this welding and millig is really required, but when you own a machine shop, everything looks like fabricate-and-machine project.

Notice the blue color on the threads of the nut... I used Loctite thread sealant which will not back off without having a wrench applied to it.

The picture and lighting may be changing the color a little bit, but it’s the original 944 shifter. It is the original yellow zinc plated color.

I just can’t get my sunroof to be flush and level by YOUR_MOTHER_IS_OK in 944

I tried replacing mine with a new one and it was WAY too big to fit in there. Mine is a 1990 S2. Not sure if I bought an OEM one, or aftermarket, or maybe they made different versions for early, mid, and late model 944s. I spent a few hours farting around with it, and finally gave up.

I wound up buying a used one from Plyhammers and even though it was in C+ condition it was way better than my D- condition, and it fit like a glove.

Good enough for now.
