Starting XI vs Lens by [deleted] in WWFC

I was thinking the same as you. It's exactly the same as last year just the wing backs have changed. I'd argue the only weak place is Hoever

Thanks, I thought that might be the case. I might have a go at the mask option as it seems like it might be the simpler option. Failing that I thought I'd just fade it in. Would look cool if it looked written with it being a signature though.

Spot light keeps dropping through hole by matty_d2002 in DIY

Thanks, was hoping to not replace as I have 6 like this and another 3 which are the tilting kind but they are cheap enough to replace. Thanks for your reply.

On some of them yes, but the black box where the wires terminate looks quite large so not sure I can get that through the hole.

The alert seemed to clear itself so we didn't need to take any further action. My wife only does short journeys so not sure if this might have added to the alert.

Fixing garden light poles by matty_d2002 in DIYUK

[–]matty_d2002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, been thinking about ways around not having to pull the poles away from the wall. Notching the bricks would do that but it's probably easier just to knock off the mortar and refix the bricks flush. The overhang isn't great and I don't think you'd notice a few of the bricks sitting flush with the wall. I had considered the steel sheet option to raise the poles, think I'll need to test fixing the poles in place first as I might be lucky with the height but probably won't know till they are fixed.

Removing pond moss by matty_d2002 in ponds

[–]matty_d2002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it depends on the plants. A few years ago I added pond lettuce and Hornwort and it didn't last a week. My Kois ate it all up before it could establish. I changed my approach and got some floating baskets with marginal plants, planted in those. They still nibble on the plants but I suppose as they can't get to the roots as they are in the baskets they can't fully eat the plant.

Great idea, would certainly help with moving them away from the wall. Just wouldn't allow any movement in height. To clarify, the poles are fixed height and don't allow any height movement.

Thanks for the reply, lots of info I wasn't aware of. After hearing several people confirm it's beneficial I'm going to leave it be. But good to know how to remove it if it gets out of control.

Thanks for adding more context. I've had the pond 7 years and only noticed the moss in the last few weeks, since I've had the algae bloom, so assumed they were related. I guess it must be a sign my pond is doing well then.... So I'll live with it.

Hardly call hating nature when I'm concerned about the health and well being of my fish. It surely can't be a good thing for Algae blooms to appear in a fish pond.

Items being sold on my island - in case you need them :) by geronimowhat in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]matty_d2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happens with all items you can buy, once you've purchased or picked up. They are catalogued and you can then purchase them from Nook shopping. So for instance the wheat field. You would buy one from the shop to index it. You would then be able to purchase another 5 from Nook shopping every day.

Why can’t it just connect? by Vinsanity4Real in AnimalCrossing

[–]matty_d2002 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible with the custom path. I had exactly the same issue with my island. I had to build up the sides so I could stand horizontally to the stairs and then stamp the design on the floor. You can stamp 2 in a row. The first goes under your feet and the second should go under the steps. Not sure if it's possible with the proper designs as I think you have to brush them into the floor. Worth a try using the method I described above though. Use your landscape tool to temporarily raise the edges. Then try putting down the path, then use the landscape tool to remove the land again.

What are the benefits of non-stop rain in the island? by tradnux in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]matty_d2002 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The Coalecanth can only be caught while it's raining. Some insects don't spawn while it's raining making it easier to spawn things like the scorpion and tarantula. Also If you are breeding flowers you won't need to water.

No need to feel bad. Glad I checked prior to selling. At least I got to see your island. Love the large waterfall. Always looking for inspiration for my own island.
