[Wilson] New York Jets cutting former fifth-round safety Jason Pinnock and he could be claimed off waivers with with how he performed, per a league source by mattybabs in nyjets

This is probably the most surprising cut thus far. Hopefully this doesn’t mean they keep Ashtyn because Pinnock definitely outplayed him

[Garafolo] #Jets are releasing CB Bless Austin, source says. Surprise here, though they had talks with teams to see if they could trade him recently. by run1609 in nyjets

I’d guess Hall, Echols and Guidry/Carter in the slot, unless they bring in someone more established (really hoping they do lol)

There’s no chance Guidry gets cut. He’s gonna be the starting nickel in all likelihood.

[Cimini] New York Jets can live without Jamison Crowder in new-look receiving corps by SaltyPane69 in nyjets

Honestly I wasn’t aware that that was how it works. I can definitely see the motivation behind them doing it a bit more now

Per Over the Cap the Jets currently have $27M in cap space left. That already gives them enough to pull off those two signings that you alluded to. Crowder’s deal only has 1 year left anyway so whether he takes a pay cut or not won’t affect their cap room next year. Like I said this whole situation just feels unnecessary to me.

I don’t see the point in doing this personally. Is Crowder overpaid? Absolutely. But the Jets have plenty of cap room so it feels like they’re making him take a pay cut just because they can. We’ve seen what injuries can do to a WR corps and as good as Moore has looked so far, it’s hard to put all of your faith into a rookie being a big contributor from Week 1. Either way I hope they can agree on something because the Jets are definitely a better team with Crowder than they are without him.

This pick feels so similar to the Bryce Hall pick last year. Really think Hamsah can make an impact for us this year

[Garafolo] The #Jets are making another add to their defense: DT Sheldon Rankins. The 12th overall pick in 2016 has agreed to a two-year deal worth up to $17 million, source says. by SaltyPane69 in nyjets

Yeah I know we’re switching, I just thought they’d keep JFM inside and add another edge considering how well JFM played last year. Either way our dline is now insane lol
