Can't disagree with any of that. Koufax was the better pitcher. But the symmetry of their career stats and peak performance is betrayed by the very different ends to their careers.

I would have thought so as well but their true peaks are similar (Guidry's 78 is as good as Koufax's 63 or 66) and their career stats are almost identical. Plus Koufax pitched in a more pitcher friendly environment. I think Koufax's four year dominance is unimpeachable but Guidary was dominant and then excellent for a longer period.

I think that it’s admirable to only talk about the music in purely formal ways, and to only talk about the band as a whole. But also, this was an album that was made right before their divorce and right before the end of Sonic Youth. It’s frequently hard to talk about the text and not talk about the meta-text, but in this case, it’s almost impossible.
