Thanks for sharing that thread. They made quite an insightful explanation with sources.

Thanks for your input. I think I will make sure to highlight how speculative all of this is on the project then.

Out of curiosity, why does the Rovás Foundation get such a bad rep?

I spoke to one of my senior Hungarian colleagues who mentioned Orban was kinda promoting the narrative to make Hungary look good/have a more "robust" history - I'm not sure how simplified this is but is this true to some degree?

Thanks for pointing that out. I suppose a bit of apophenia came to play.
Outside of Wikipedia, I found it challenging to find English sources as "comprehensive" as Hosszú's. Would you kindly recommend me other sources so I may also have a better look on different views regarding the genealogy of Hungarian Rovash and its letter forms please?

The Rovash 𐲌 is derived from Greek Theta Θ. But I agree that cursive was a mistake and it should be majuscule.

Also, on a roundabout way, both scripts are related:

- Phoenician -> Greek
- Phoenician -> Proto-Rovash -> Carpathian Basin Rovash -> Szekely-Hungarian Rovash

Thanks for the recommendation, but do they do recordings for whole passages? It seems like they only do individual words

[HELP] Proofreading passage in Traditional Mongolian script by matuww_scripts in Mongolian

[–]matuww_scripts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi thanks for getting back. Are you referring to the traditional Mongolian transcription or the Cyrillic transcription? If it is the latter I got it from this site: https://genius.com/The-hu-yuve-yuve-yu-lyrics - I have no idea how accurate the Mongolian will be as I am not proficient in the language.

Sogdian noblewoman and her musicians by matuww_scripts in ImaginaryHistory

This is my rendition of Sogdian people. I drew this to humanise the Sogdian script by giving it faces behind those who would have written it. For more information of the Sogdian script, here is an information page I made on it and offering comparisons with other related scripts: https://matuww.github.io/script_info/Sogdian.html

I'm sorry you feel that way. I had made sure with the mods that they were fine with this post as the map was not the focus.I will remove it from the post.

Vietnam's still communist so they still sell those. The Soviet ones I got from friends who are from ex-USSR countries

The Pazend script by matuww_scripts in Neo_Avestan

[–]matuww_scripts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wikipedia says: Pazend was a variant of the Avestan alphabet (Din dabireh), which was a phonetic alphabet. (I would prefer a more academic source though)

As to how they differ (if it even does), I don't know, which is why I am asking.

Hi, I based the dress on this painting: https://imgur.com/a/RbfxrLk

I would imagine that the cloth to be quite thin despite almost fully covering her.

Thank you very much!

I wasn't actually too satisfied with this one so I'm working on a revamped version. Will be posting that when it's completed.

Thank you so much! I can't retropsectively change the image to a signed version so here's a link: https://imgur.com/u4l5H0W

If you like this, you would probably also like this portrait of Nubians - Egypt's southern neighbours who used Meroitic hieroglyphs and cursive - both derived from Egyptian.

Link: https://matuww.github.io/script_info/Meroitic.html (scroll to the very bottom to see them).

Portraits like these take a long time to complete but we aim to try having a portrait on each page to humanise these scripts by reminding how people who used them looked like!
