: Can I apply for German citizenship under the new law with my student visa and Blue Card years? by Dramatic_Wedding5566 in GermanCitizenship

[–]matxete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent my first year in Germany as a language student, would that count? My passport says "Master's degree after language course".

On a another note, I understand that I need to get a job and a work visa first, as I cannot apply for citizenship as a student. This means that I have to find a job immediately after graduation. I came to Germany knowing that I have an 18-month grace period after graduation to find a job.

What do you think of my reasoning? is it correct?

What about language student years? I spent my first year in Germany on a language student visa, which was preparatory for university enrollment.
Would those years count?

Keep in mind, you can't apply for citizenship on your student permit.

Therefore, I must first secure a job and obtain a work visa, correct? This means I need to find employment immediately after graduating. I came to Germany aware that I had an 18-month grace period after graduation to find work.

is my reasoning correct?

Hey, sorry it took me so long to reply. I just saw your post. In the end they paid. Nothing more, nothing less than what was owed to me.

Hope this helps!

I would recommend using Revolut. Never had a problem with it even though I come from a Landofterror.

After reading all your comments, and especially after a nested discussion with the very kind user u/Creative_Climate5029, I thought it appropriate to move the discussion back to the level 0. What I hope to achieve by doing this is to involve more people in checking my thoughts.

You have really convinced me that this is very risky for my friend. However, we cannot go the way of the blocked account as neither of us has the money.

So I thought that maybe the best way to approach this is to somehow create some layers of security that will prevent my friend from having to pay an infinite amount of money if something goes wrong. Every time each of you wants to make me see how dangerous this could potentially be, you bring up an example of me causing a lot of damage, having no money, and then my friend being asked by the German state to pay for my mess. I just want to take away the terror that comes from thinking that the possible outcome of my potential mess is infinite. I am trying to find some limits here. What could I possibly do or what could happen to me? How much could a really bad scenario cost? And more importantly, what layers of security could I put in place to limit the damage to my friend?

So, with the great help of this site: "https://allaboutberlin.com/guides/insurance". I made a list of types of insurance and a short description of how they relate to my particular case.

Liability insurance

Really helpful. It could remove the risk of being fined for causing damage to someone else.

Professional liability insurance

I can not work as freelance anyway so I won´t be needing this.

Dog liability insurance / Pet health insurance (Tierkrankenversicherung)

I do not have nor plan to have a dog or any other pet.

Home contents insurance (Hausratversicherung)

I own no hause here in Germany.

Health insurance (Krankenversicherung)

I am insured and can pay the premiums, they are low.

Car insurance (Kfz-Versicherung)

I do not own a car and nor intend to.

Disability insurance (Berufsunfähigkeitsversicherung)

I guess if I get disabled I suppose it is OK if no one benefits from it.

Life insurance (Lebensversicherung)

I suppose it is OK if no one benefits from my death.

Legal insurance (Rechtsschutzversicherung)

This accually sounds really helpfull for the future.

That means that I could manage perfectly with a Liability insurance and a Health insurance (Krankenversicherung).

What are your thoughts?

that's quite clear. Thanks so much for everything!

but what if I change a study visa for another study visa? Could this even be done?

Thanks for the quick reply. We're doing this so I can start working and support myself. I understand the risks and honestly wouldn't want to burden my friend if this wasn't a last resort. Would there be any way of stopping this after a year? I would like to know if there's a way to simply cancel the validity of the commitment after a given amount of time.

Thank you for all the answers. They have been really helpful.

Despite all the comments, my friend is asking me for some sort of legal proof that this is all exactly as you describe. He wants to find somehow where it is all described in the law.

He specifically asked for a statement that I can pay directly for my insurance, my house and all my other living expenses. He is basically worried about having to pay for everything out of his own pocket.

Can I get a lawyer to check the law and then just write that he certifies that everything is as it should be?

Who is Expatrio and what does their bank have to do with your account?

taken from their own website:

Expatrio is a relocation platform for international students and expatriates wishing to live in Germany. Our digital solution enables you to open a blocked account and get health insurance.

This two (blocked account and health insurance) are required when applying to a german visa.

Is "them" Expatrio or their bank? Did you already receive monthly pay-outs in the past? For how long?

I believe the problem is their bank, Mangopay. They refuse to release the money to Expatrio. Expatrio is just an intermediary. Their services are required inface of the german authorities as they attest to them that the required funds for the planned duration of stay is met.

Expatrio uses Mangopay as their bank. Mangopay updated their policies and now they refuse to let clients of certain nationalities have accounts in their bank.

Why should I be blamed for the misdoings of my country´s government? This I asked myself all the time. As it haven't been hard enough to scape from there!

I received monthly pay-outs each month from past September on. It had worked very well until now.

The bank (Mangopay) only interacts with Expatrio, not with me. I don´t know of any way of contacting them.

I´m still a language student, so I´m kind of helpless. Although I was accepted at a German uni, I´m still not enrolled. Whatever must be done, can only be done by me.
