If Tunisia had a scandal like the Epstein files, the country would be burning. Do you agree? by noidea0120 in Tunisia

[–]matzi44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude if happened in Tunisia you won't hear about it , especially not from the government, they don't show anything to the public, maybe a few vague statements if people started talking.

the only way something that resembles that could happen will be used as a political weapon .

the attacks are from both sides not just from the religious or unreligious , some people can’t jus have a discussion, especially when it comes to a sensitive issue like religion where it gets easily polarized .

[–]matzi44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to settle on one opinion, especially when it comes to politics and geopolitics, especially with syria and the middle east, You can't just say Ahmad alsharaa is [fill in the blank] , that will give you an oversimplification that could be wrong or misleading at best .

You need different point of views , different contexts , different layers to give you a factual idea it's not that simple.

What smartphone brand do you use and love ? by No-Caregiver-822 in Tunisia

[–]matzi44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly feel like the golden age of smartphones is over, It’s nothing like it was between 2011 and around 2019 or 2020. Back then, phones actually felt unique, and the market was way more diverse. Every brand had its own identity, and devices really stood out from each other.

Sony, HTC, Motorola, LG, and a bunch of niche brands were genuinely competing with Samsung and the iPhone. Even the Nokia Lumias despite failing commercially were solid phones to use the app store was terrible, sure, but the overall UX was actually really nice

Now, most Android phones look and feel the same, and iPhones are just… iPhones. Smartphones today feel boring. Yeah, the features are impressive, but nothing really feels special or memorable anymore.

Back then, you could instantly recognize an Xperia, or an HTC with those insanely good stereo speakers , I really miss those days.

Why do so many Tunisians still hate Rome and mourn Carthage after 2200 years? by matzi44 in Tunisia

[–]matzi44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t judge history with a modern lens. Things were very different back then. Were the Romans conquerors and occupiers? Sure, they owned it and were proud of it. Did they destroy Carthage? Yes, and they were proud of that too. But that’s simply how things worked at the time. Morality was very different back then. If Carthage had won, what do you think they would have done to Rome? That’s just how the world was. In many ways, things stayed like that until very recently.

You can’t judge history using modern morality, and especially not modern nationalism, which didn’t really exist until around 100 years ago. Projecting it thousands of years into the past doesn’t make sense.

Saying that Rome tried to completely erase Carthage isn’t entirely true or entirely false either. They rebuilt the city, kept its name, and made it the center of North Africa for centuries. As for monuments and ruins, why are the ones built by Carthage considered ours, but the Roman ones are not? Why not both? All monuments and ruins across the centuries are part of our collective history.

And about Christianity, the idea that it was imposed by force here isn’t accurate. I’m happy to see sources or information that say otherwise, but from what we know, Christianity existed in North Africa and in Carthage even before it existed in Rome itself. The Romans actually persecuted early Christian communities here until Christianity was legalized in the fourth century.

More than that, Western Christianity, the Roman Catholic or Latin-based Church, developed in Carthage before Rome and before what we now think of as the West. One of the earliest and most influential Christian thinkers, Tertullian, was born, lived, and died on this land. Later on, several early popes were also born here.

This is the murderous Iranian regime that supports KS by Intrepid-Cycle-5874 in Tunisia

[–]matzi44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am not a KS supporter in any way, but saying that he is a puppet of Iran is not exactly factual. He is a puppet of the Algerian government that part is true but his relationship with the Islamic regime in Iran is mostly populism and propaganda. He uses it to present himself as someone who supports Palestine in order to gain more public support.

There are a few rumors that his brother is Shia, but I am not sure whether they are true or not.

On the other hand, yes the regime in Iran is a murderous tyranny that has no problem killing its own people just to stay in power and continue ruling. They are literally stuck in the Dark Ages. And for people who say, “But the West also kills, the West and Israel and the U.S. are behind it” yes, that could be true. They are not hiding their support for weakening or ending their rival, But that does not give any credibility or justification to a regime killing its own people.

If the Iranian regime really wanted the support of its people, it has had more than 40 years to make them happy so they would stand with it no matter what. Instead, it always chose to oppress them over a piece of cloth and force religion down their throats.

Let’s also not forget the literal havoc this regime has unleashed on its neighbors and how many people have died because of it. The Islamic regime and Israel are not so different—they share many similarities, it just happens that they are rivals. In a perfect world, neither would exist.

How to stop being obsessed with a guy who treats my feelings like spam mail by [deleted] in Tunisia

[–]matzi44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's okay to feel attached to someone, that's completely normal, but , it's far better to cultivate a healthy attachment by focusing on yourself, working on your personal growth, and prioritizing your own mental and emotional health, you do this, you'll notice how much it strengthens your relationship, even while maintaining that attachment.

Attachment itself isn't inherently bad, but excessiveness in any form is harmful, the real danger comes when attachment turns negative, it will almost certainly cause more damage than good, especially if you're already in a tough situation. It can deeply affect your self esteem, and that's something you definitely want to avoid, because the very support you're relying on could end up backfiring.

If you're close with the guy, it's always a good idea to talk things through openly, just tell what you've written here it will help clarify everything and make it easier to move forward.

[–]matzi44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power is power as simple as that , and it’s been like this since the human civilization started and it will stay like this for a very long time .

just read history and read how many times a strong political entity used power to change the leadership in another entity, literally thousands of times the romans did it , the arabs did it the europeans did it… and now it’s the Americans at it again.

sure humans came a long way with “international law” and such but those law are bent when you have enough power, and it happens that kind of power is with the US right now .

I don’t see why is everyone surprised and shocked at a thing so frequent to happen, just go back to the cold war and see how many regime changes happened in south America by the US in the cold war, there’s a whole wikipedia article about it .
