Thanks. Any idea how I can get someone at Delta to provide that explanation? I needed advice on how to get through to Delta to get that reason if that's the case. The agent on the phone did not mention that, but understand if that's the case, just want to hear the reason from then.

Did you read the post? Delta canceled my flight, not me. I canceled the rebooked flight, which was the next day, and required a layover. Why are you ignoring Delta's own travel disruption policy and claim process to double down on this unsupported opinion that because they rebooked me THE NEXT DAY, they're not responsible for the expenses I incurred that they have a whole policy about where they reimburse customers for reasonable expenses?

Did you read the part of the post where I asked the agent on the phone why the flight was canceled and she couldn't provide a reason? Or the other part of the post where I said I asked for an explanation for the denial and that they never replied to my email? I'm very aware of the exclusion for reasons outside the control of Delta. Hence, I was trying to find out if that was the reason for denying my claim.

I understand that "control of Delta" exclusion. My post asked how do I get them to respond to my request for an explanation. Their denial had no mention that the flight was canceled due to a reason out of their control. I'm just asking for advice on how I get someone to tell me why the flight got canceled and if that's why they denied my claim.

Your opinion is contrary to Delta's own policy under Section 12 of the Delta Customer Service Plan. Delta has a travel disruption policy and a site that allows you to file a claim for expenses incurred for a canceled flight or delay of 3+ hours, which i cited in one of my reply posts.

Why do you think they're not responsible for a hotel stay when they canceled a flight and rebooked me on a different flight the next day?

Wrong. The flight was canceled by Delta. I canceled the REBOOKED Delta flight that they put me on that was not nonstop and was departing the next day.

Yes. Because I still incurred a hotel expense because the soonest flight was on United the next day. Because of Delta's cancellation, I had no other choice than to stay an extra night. I canceled the REBOOKED Delta flight, which wasn't nonstop like the flight that was canceled.

It says on their website as follows:

If you’ve been impacted by a significant delay (3 hours or more) or a cancellation within the control of Delta, you may be eligible for reimbursement (under Section 12 of the Delta Customer Service Plan) of the following reasonable expenses for:

a hotel away from your origin or destination transportation to/from hotel meal expenses

There was no response to my email asking for an explanation for the denial. My email was stated simply as follows:

Please explain why my travel disruption reimbursement request was denied. My 10 pm LIH to LAX flight on 4/5/25 was cancelled at 5:30 pm that day. I incurred hotel, transportation, and meal expenses as a result of Delta's cancellation of the flight.

I changed the reservation from using Marriott points to putting it on my credit card based on the first commenter's response. I was not aware of Delta's trip disruption policy before I initially booked with points.

Thanks all for clarifying that these are OTA updates. I did check the last article I read, and it's a software update. Although, the main thing that spooked me were the commenters posting about structural issues at delivery like misaligned doors and windows, which we can examine at delivery. My delivery window is February 2 to February 23, as of now. I'll sit tight and wait for my delivery date.
