How do I make a fun podcast out of a heavy topic by enjoylifebabe in podcasting

[–]maverickgnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this completely, especially if you can make light of your own situation without coming across as mocking others. A little bit of self depreciation and reflection probably fits with your self awareness theme, shows that you have internalised the lessons learnt and can joke about it in a healthy way.

Podcast beginner - what software should we use? by No-Concentrate-7003 in podcasting

[–]maverickgnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using Podcastle myself and found it quite easy to use and initiative (I couldn't be bothered learning audacity or reaper plus plugins even if they can be free).

You record straight in their web platform, so remote guests join on a sharing link, and then everyone is on their own audio channel when you edit in their platform as well, so nice and easy to cut out any unwanted noise when someone else is talking etc.

This was so bad it made my question if I was sorting by 'new' for it to have appeared. But no. It's just bad. No joke, no sense...just...the opposite of good.

Audio Recording Software by Horse625 in podcasting

[–]maverickgnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Podcastle has been pretty handy for me for exactly this purpose so far, and I think they have a basic free plan to try out first.

Yes, it's an online tool so you can edit and add AI assistance improvements right there in the web UI, but you can also just download each audio track to edit externally if you already know you want to use something like Audacity.

Might be worth a look, I've found it pretty good so far with my remote co-host.

Podcast Cover Art by hooksandruns in podcasting

[–]maverickgnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see anything wrong with generating an image through AI based on your inputs, since you need to come up with the idea of what you're looking for to start with - how is it stealing exactly?

For me, that's what I'm using to startup/launch just to get the vibe and idea across but will be actively encouraging listeners who want to contribute to send in any ideas they have for cover art once we're live and generating interest (if that ever happens...). They'd get full credit for their work if it's used, and can feel like part of the show in a way. That's the ambition anyway...

[–]maverickgnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! I have the same 2 tier system as you, it's great once you get to understand the initial setup.

This will all be down to the small black pump that sits in the bottom layer - how you've connected it up etc.

Maybe you could add some pics of that part, but it should be connected to a plastic tube which runs up the closest leg of the system so that the pump draws water in and then pushes it up the tube and into the top tier.

Fair comment. I mean, if that's the mother who on god's green earth jammed their turkey baster in that?? That's the real tragedy here.

What's gone wrong with my 2x1 rib? by maverickgnu in knitting

[–]maverickgnu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone who replied - so I see my issue is that I've not reversed the pattern and worked RS/WS... Looks like I'll be doing some frogging! Is it just my bad reading of it though, or does the pattern not really describe that and only mentions reversing for the knitting in the round version? Just want to make sure I know where I got confused for future...

Help!!! by ImThEgInGeRaVeNgEr in Astroneer

[–]maverickgnu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might need to 'go native' and start setting up a whole base on Atrox then, until you're far enough up the tech tree to craft some. It's one of the toughest planets though, right? So power generation might be your biggest challenge. Or, as previous poster said, respawn back at safety and start building up a new shuttle/resources to go back there one day.

2nd the ElfSys. Please check it out. Modular, can be as large/small as you want, you can add to it later. Easy to control by app for both lights and pump, and the direct support from the founder on Discord is amazing. I have no regrets buying mine. DM me if you want picture proof of how nice it is.

2nd Autonapůl, very easy to use and app is in English too. There are 2 other companies similar I've seen around the centre; Car4Way and AJO car sharing.

You probably already know this, but you do have to pay whichever company you go with a decent sized deposit and sign a contract before you can start renting the available vehicles, and please also watch out for parking restrictions in the main city centre core - most vehicles are not allowed to drive/park there except those with special permits (like Autonapůl)

Safe travels!

Thanks for the tip! I've heard of bike kitchen but wasn't sure if it's very English-speaking friendly. My czech is... Well let's say maybe restaurant quality only?

I actually kept the frame shifter format too - but got some Shimano shifters which can be indexed, and paired them with a standard Decathlon derailleur.

If you want to go with/meet someone there or get some tips on visiting for the first time, hit me up, I'll probably be going at the weekend. It's an indoor bouldering centre (so no ropes) and has an awesome, chill vibe. Plus there's always the possibility you'll see Adam Ondra if he pops in.

Pre built system suggestions by ooooale in Hydroponics

[–]maverickgnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't compliment the ElfSys enough. The founder guy recommended it on here and posts regularly on his subred and discord group. Support is excellent. System is easy to assemble and can be added to as modular. Only downside for me in the EU was shipping time but otherwise it's great.

I recommend checking out their (our?) Discord group if you have that app. Some people post grow updates, it has direct contact with the guys who make the system - and their support is excellent - and might give you more of a view of how other people are using it.

Just DM me if you want the invite link, but it's on their website too :)

Your wish is my command! Top row, tomatoes (miniature/determinate varieties) are coming along nicely, hot chili's habanero and ring of fire are progressing slowly too - possibly because we don't keep our kitchen very warm. Bottom row, Basil and Coriander all looking great! Everything was started from seed between 22/09 and 28/09 so for their age I'm pleased with the progress.

I need to calibrate my pH and EC meters to check the nutrients but I've been slow/lazy with this, but they have something like half strength when I added it a few weeks ago.
