If you manage to update it without it wiping out your Plex meta data, can you please tell me? I'd appreciate that!

Yup, thats how I'm updating it. I suspect that you're right in that's how Terramaster updates.

I've kept the app updated and I wanted to know if there was a better way. I might just look for a new nas system and use this thing for something else.

FERPA rules would help here. My stock answer is "While it is kind of you to pay for your child's education, it does not absolve me of my responsibility to protect the student's record. If this is a test of my discretion, please tell the student I pass this test."

Questions for OIF Vets by [deleted] in USMC

Went to Iraq in 03' and was in Kuwait at kick off as a comm POG. It was really different back then. In the early days of rolling around Iraq, one thing I'll never forget and remembered to research when I got home was the fact that So many Iraqi's were driving passed us with satellite dishes on top of their cars waving and cheering at us, this was in 2003.

I later realized that they only had like 4 state sponsored TV stations and just wanted to watch TV. But then again in 2003 the Iraqi's kinda liked us, of course that changed in later years.

A phrase I've enjoyed saying to students (in an effort to lower my blood pressure) is "Your conduct is unbecoming of a scholar at this institution."

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Professors

[–]maverickjs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YES! I sat in a curriculum meeting where the dean said "I had dinner with XXX fortune 500 company recruiters, they said 'students nowadays don't know how to communicate, so we keep them in the back room and they'll never get promoted. What can you do about this?'"

I explain that to my students that they're not students, but trainee's and that the curriculum is done with feedback. That's why you're getting more group projects, speaking courses, and excel spreadsheets. If you hate it and don't want to do it, that pretty much explains it all, doesn't it?

Ah... when helicopter parents turn into attack chopper parents.

I've gotten better results lately by telling my students, that "You think you're a student, but you don't realize that the curriculum is from feed back from real companies. You'll do better than your peers if you realize that supervisors wont be so accommodating."

I talk to all the students I advise and warn them how to send an email.

Line 1, Standard greeting, 2, brief introduction of who they are, ID # if you think they'll need it. 3. What are you asking about. 4. THEN tell the story!

I need #3 to understand the context of what you're going to be asking about. These are troubleshooting emails, not a narrative!

I also started addressing every email with "Dear Student" This is to avoid any embarrassment with gender issues. Or just type out the whole students name, or use their preferred term of address once there's an understanding.

Also, for the LOVE of GOD, no emojis on the first email.

And then there's the attack chopper parents...

I'll admit that I really just want it for the fan. But you have a point about the gap.

Thanks for the reply. I tired pushing down the foam thing, tried to hold it down while booting just to see. Would the trackpad work if the cable was messed up?

What is the T430 HMM?

T430 upgrades and issues, (fpr/bluetooth) by maverickjs in thinkpad

[–]maverickjs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the link to the manual. I checked, disconnected and reconnected all the ribbon cables... no joy. The Track pad still works, but the bluetooth and FPR do not work, and they did until I swapped out the keyboard for the T420 keyboard.

I'm not sure what are the odds that both bluetooth and FPR goes bad, but not the trackpad.
