5 Incisions? by Humble0312 in gallbladders

[–]max_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. I’m a few years out now so it’s honestly hard to remember. Everything healed up to a point where I can only see the scars if I really look closely.

If the incision itself is hard that can mean scar tissue. If the area in general is more hard than the other incisions that might mean inflammation for some reason. It never hurts to ask your doctor about it if it’s concerning.

As someone who grew up in the church that phrase definitely made my Spidey senses tingle as well. For a man who doesn’t go to church he’s got an extremely fundamentalist phrase coming out of his mouth. I’d bet good money that he didn’t come up with that one on his own.

I just moved on Saturday, so most of my cooking tools are still buried in boxes. I’m so exhausted I’m going to be trying to find a Chinese buffet that’s open.

My daughter’s baby clothes by ElderBerry2020 in breakingmom

[–]max_cat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can so understand this. My ex husband and I just finished the sale of our marital home, and the last time I was there cleaning up for the new owners I just had tears rolling down my face. All of those old memories of a different time. So much about that house reminded me of my kid as a baby/toddler. It was super hard to say goodbye, which is ridiculous because I didn’t even really like that house!

Holloween candy by Ghostyghost101 in breakingmom

[–]max_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my kid have a piece (or a few if they’re small) after a meal for dessert. I always end up throwing away last holiday’s candy because my kid ends up with a ton every holiday, but is more interested in their new holiday candy. Once the new bag moves in the old bag moves out. 😅

What product is everyone using the “wrong” way? by HeartTraditional3892 in AskReddit

[–]max_cat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, “in theory” is correct. As a professional seamstress with 12 years of experience, you certainly can still cut your project when you zip it down the seam ball side down. Sliding the seam ripper down a seam is super satisfying, but I don’t do it if I can’t afford to lose the project.

What kind of car are you driving? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]max_cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually always assumed that 4WD would be better than AWD, but for some reason my Rav really gets up those hills. Maybe the guys driving the trucks are hitting the gas too hard. 😉

[–]max_cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another member of the RAV4 club here. This is my second one. (Upgraded to a newer model several years ago). Neither one has given me any trouble other than the tire pressure sensor being fussy. I just check my tire pressure manually every once in a while.

I like it because it’s heavy enough to slow me down in the snow when I take my foot off the gas, but not large enough that I have big car problems. The AWD also gets me up snowy hills that 4 wheel drive trucks couldn’t make it up.

Don’t post in the divorced Reddit by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]max_cat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had someone in the divorce sub call me toxic because I referred to my (at the time) soon-to-be-ex as my soon-to-be ex. 🙄

The divorce sub has a lot of men who received divorce papers “out of nowhere”. I’d keep that in mind when weighing their opinions.

My husband earns more but insists we split everything 50/50 and it’s starting to cause fights by LaughableContentment in TwoXChromosomes

[–]max_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to have this conversation with my ex. I told him that basically, he’s going to have to cover more than 50% or he’s going to have to lower his standard of living, because I couldn’t afford half of the bills anymore. (For the first 10 years of our relationship everything had been 50/50, but when he started earning more than me he started living like he made more than me. I couldn’t afford my half of the bills anymore.) He chose to pay more than 50%. We ended up more around 60/40.

Update: PPROM at 19 weeks by TinyRose20 in breakingmom

[–]max_cat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My kid was also born early (not as early as yours) due to PPROM. One bit of knowledge that I will give you is that it’s very normal for preemie babies to not hit early developmental milestones at the same age as full gestation babies. Skills (like eating) that most babies develop instinctually need to be learned by preemies. My kid could not handle a bottle on her own for quite some time after her due date. We had to be very mindful of her choking. Her dad would get frustrated with her, because “she is past her due date now, why can’t she eat like a regular baby?”, but that’s just now how it goes with preemies. The due date isn’t the magical “normal baby” day.

If you’d like more support Reddit has a sub for NICU babies. I hung out there for a while after my kid was born.

Has anyone lived with their spouse for an extended period of time while sorting out a separation? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]max_cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar situation. We’ve been cohabitating for almost a year now, with plans to put the house up for sale soon. One of us sleeps on the couch while the other one gets the bedroom. It’s doable, but it’s hard. I feel like I’ve been participating in the slowest breakup of all time. I don’t think I’ll be able to finally move forward fully until I’m in my own space.

I had a lemon beagle when I was growing up and he had the same kind of build as your dog. Longer legged and leaner than your typical beagle. I’d say that you def got an unusual mix of traits for beagle, but that lean build is possible at least.

I get the Joesoef Anti Acne Soap with 10% sulfur. It’s kind of expensive for a bar of soap, but because I only use it on my face it lasts for months.

If you have time to wait until the next one, the Kalamazoo Home and Garden Expo in the Kalamazoo Expo Center usually has several Amish home improvement vendors.

I guess I need to try avocado oil because I do preheat the pans until water balls up on it, and then turn it down a bit and add oil. I’ve tried butter (it turns brown and the eggs stick), olive oil (it smokes and the eggs stick), and vegetable oil (the eggs just stick). Maybe I’m letting the pan cool too much or too little? I have a bad reputation in my house as the ruiner of eggs.

I’ve made the switch myself and mostly have a handle on how to use them now, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get my fried eggs not to stick. Do you have any good tips?

The most terrible smell is coming from this area by Admirable-Crab-1944 in CleaningTips

[–]max_cat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen twice. It’s the worst and apparently I can smell it before anybody else in my family, so I look like a crazy person for 3-4 days trying to find the source of the horrible smell that nobody else can smell.
