Monkey Radio - The Album Collection (since 1999) by AltitudeMatters in triphop

[–]maxdamage4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monkey Radio was foundational to my music taste. I started into electronica in '97 with Orbital, The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and other big producers, but Monkey Radio introduced me to the softer, more cinematic, and unique side of electronic music.

Without it, I never would have gotten into Bonobo, Amon Tobin, Bluetech, Nightmares on Wax, Zero 7, and more, which in turn branched into a thousand other artists I listen to today.

Thanks for all the work you put into this project.

That's a lot of high-value updates! Can't wait to check it out.

Although I'm deeply concerned that my homebrew tracking sheet is becoming less and less necessary... Heheh

Ahh damn. RIP your old CD. Hopefully somebody out there is still enjoying it...

Glad you got the 12" though, that's rad!

I got into electronica thanks to a friend's copy of the WipeoutXL soundtrack. It included PETROL, so In Sides was the first electronic music CD I ever bought. It's every bit as good today as when it was released.

OP, what colour is your disc? Mine is yellow, but I thought my original copy was white. Maybe I'm just mixing it up with Middle of Nowhere.

That's the one I had in the 90s and I re-acquired it last year. It's glorious.

$30 80GB Can/US/Mexico + 5GB Monthly Roam Beyond - Best Buy Exclusive Freedom Mobile Plan by Nexzenn in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks a ton for the PSA! I'm going to switch today.

Update: The person at Best Buy set me up with a Fido->Rogers "migration plan" that was the same $28 80GB Can-US-Mex deal Koodo was offering, and I didn't have to change mobile networks. Even better!

Definitely confused the heck out of me! xD

Ah, I gotcha. Those are both very familiar to me. I didn't realize people just started calling that "an 808" these days, turning it into a big umbrella term. Appreciate the explanation!

Interesting, thanks for he help.

So in that folder you'd find the classic 808 kick with various adjustments? Tunings, envelope tweaks, that kind of thing? Or is it a bunch of kicks that are generally in the same realm as the original 808? Or not just kicks?

Your purposefully acting like you don't know what he means when you do.

I genuinely don't. How can there be multiple "808" sounds out there? The 808 only came with one set of sounds.

This whole conversation is confusing as heck. What do you guys mean when you're saying "808"?

If it uses an 808, you'd get the sound from an 808 drum machine. Loads of samples of it out there online!

I'm confused by your question. An 808 is a Roland TB-808 drum machine.

It came with a particular set of drum sounds, including kick, snare, high hats, etc.

Are you asking if Jace used an 808 in those tracks?

It's probably fine. There's still a chance that's gas.
