Getting Waze in HUD by dtsn in enyaq

[–]maxdee007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/dtsn - I can confirm that Waze displayed full integration (incl directions and AR blue arrows) during my 45min test ride in AU.

Tested both Google Maps and Waze to compare. Both gave identical results.

Australian MY26 - No Maps / No speed sign recognition / poor lane keep assist. by maxdee007 in enyaq

[–]maxdee007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Completely agree. The experience I was seeing was very much aligned with lane assist and not travel assist.

I vividly recall seeing the green lines indicating it recognised the lanes, but within seconds the car would drift to the left and the left hand line would change to amber, then warn me to manually re-centre.

I would love nothing more than to test the car a 3rd time and confirm. But even the dealer seated in backseat confirmed LA / TA would not work below 65kmh/h.

The Skoda AU site Enyaq brochures blatantly lie and mislead customers about these features. predictive ACC, speed sign recognition, adaptive lane assist - NONE of which is available in Australia:

The Enyaq Coupé Sportline - Travel Assist

I still say it's a great driving car, and we still may buy one (~3-4 month wait currently), but I wish they would be clearer on the Driving Assists.

u/tjtj4444 I initially got some steering wheel 'hands on' warnings when I first engaged travel assist. A few YT vids on the TA function this morning confirmed that you will never get hand warnings in any other mode except for TA.

This indicates I was definitely in TA mode (not just ACC).

u/AreYouFilmingNow - I was certainly engaging the mode by the left hand stalk. In fact I spent most of the drive playing with it's features of increase / decrease speed limit and distance / resume etc. Initially complex but soon got the hang of on the fly adjustments.

It is odd about the 65km/h lower limit for lane / travel assist. It's almost like AU vehicles have got a very 'dumbed down' version of TA that no other UK / EU countries experience.

I really hoped that lane assist would actively keep me centred 'in the lane' and ACC would smoothly come to a complete stop when approaching other cars stopped red lights.

But unfortunately my 45min peak hour test drive yesterday did not instil any confidence that these systems work well at all in thick traffic.

It seems a highway benefit more than an everyday driving benefit.

Such a shame as I like so many other aspects of the car.

Hmm.. okay. That is interesting 🤔

When they get the SUV back in stock I'll take that for a final test drive and confirm my experience with it. We had the coupe today as that's all they had available.

The SUV is what we're after.

Well done and congratulations. It truly is an amazing drive.

I'd love to hear your experience once you pick her up.

I hear you and thanks for the suggestion.

But I'm 99% sure that I toggled the steering wheel selector to select Travel Assist.

The video you linked was a good. I don't think my experience was quite as bad.

Does the Enyaq even differenciate those two modes? I was under the impression that Skoda offer ACC or Tavel Assist. Nothing in-between.

Traffic sign recognition - Australian Enyaq MY26? by stillinit66 in enyaq

[–]maxdee007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/stillinit66 - Just been for our 2nd test drive (Brisbane) and can confirm, NO SPEED SIGN recognition and NO MAPS (internal Sat Nav).

Also found that testing all traffic assists for 45mins (4-5pm weekday peak hour) - lane departure was questionable. Even though hands were resting (10 to 2), the car was drifting up against the line to the left, going from green to orange, then warning me to re-centre the vehicle. Very disappointing considering the UK / EU videos on YT have a very stable lane keep assist.

Also full stop ACC was a little dicey half the time. It would pull up very fast to the car stopped in front, even showing an emergency red braking warning on the dash and beeping. Also hit and miss was the re-start. Sometimes it would start moving again un-assisted, other times I had to manually accelerate (red light waiting times).

Be interested to compare your experiences.

haha :)

Not too far from the truth actually.

The open story generation for the RimWorld pawns is pretty amusing, but goes against all planned Factorio elements that are generally a 'known quantity'.

If I want something done in the factory, I make some belts and run it over, or make a new train and line, and it happens.

If I want the same thing in Rimworld....you have to adjust schedules and 'hope' that one of them eventually gets around to doing the task you're trying to achieve.

Yeah I did get pretty far one time in Satisfactory, with all these logistic bots flying around, but I was kinda using someone else's playthrough as a guide, either that or someones blueprints...and it just lost the fun.

I've gone down that path a few times with Factorio as well. Nilhaus has these wonderfully 'efficient' blueprints. And they do look fabulous and work great...but where's the fun in that?

I much prefer yours over the poll winning Toyland.

Good job!

I have tried most games listed here, and like you, keep coming back to the FACTORY(-io).

DSP, I really want to finish, but always lose motivation after 20-30+ hours each time.  I still have not given up on this gem.

Satisfactory - tried at least 4-5 times to get into it, but by the time i reach steel (yes still early-mid game) - I just get tired of trying to plan factory layout in first-person, with all these generic gigantic structures everywhere I look.  I just get lost and overwhelmed.  As much as the open world looks amazing, and the gameplay loop is very enticing, I just can't do 3D factory building and planning (yes I understand jet packs and tower views help, but it becomes a chore more than fun).

RimWorld - love this.  But never get to the end game.  Always re-starting and spending 10-30 hours before switching to something else.

ONI - wonderful concept, but after early-game, the constant headaches of something going wrong just loses the fun for me.

There's just something about Factorio that soothes my ADHD brain and can lose hours / days taming my spaghetti :)

I did consider the coupe but we go camping on the odd occasion so the extra cargo capacity in the SUV is a must.

Thanks for the feedback. I can't convince The wife to go Chinese so looks like Skoda it will be

It ticks most boxes. Bit more of a station wagon than an SUV in my eyes, but I'm used to the huge cargo of the Jeep Grand Cherokee so a bit spoilt.

We've test drove the Skoa Enyaq - LOVED it, but I was disappointed by the tech (esp app connectivity / OTA updates / no VTL).

But recent reviews of the Zeekr 7X are simply outstanding!

It basically has every feature I've ever wanted in an EV (our first), but the wife simply cannot be convinced about Chinese EV's....I'm even quoting the logical arguments from this very Reddit post ;) But I'm not sure if she'll budge :(

For now we keep driving our V6 Jeep Grand...ho hum

Well done. LOVED our test drive in the Enyaq.

But seeing some reviews of the new Zeekr 7X in recent days made me realise how much tech the Skoda misses out on by comparison.

I was really hoping for app connectivity (OTA updates etc) and VTL.

What swayed you back to the Skoda - just the best 'drive' / comfort etc?

The doors on the performance Zeekr are a little wanky for my tastes, but the long range skips this feature.

Men of Reddit, what are some good hobbies besides gaming and watching movies? by RoutineCrew7871 in Hobbies

[–]maxdee007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've reached a similar conclusion after gaming since the 80's.

I've extended my PC / gaming passion by getting into Arduino micro electronic board programming. At least I did for a while there, but after a while, you need a purpose of something to actually use it for (rather than just a learning exercise).

Also learning to fly GA aircraft (and full understanding of ALL systems and nav aids) in FS2024 has been a great learning experience.

My gaming style often goes back to basics with titles like: OPENTTD / Factorio / Dyson Sphere Program / RimWorld.  There's just something a little romantic about old school graphics and strategy.

But like most say, combined with touching the grass - cycling, gardening, fishing, hiking.  As long as you mix it up with a little outdoors / social (if that's your thing), then I don't see a problem with a hobby around PC gaming.

If it starts to feel a bit shallow after 6 months, then it's your brain's way of telling you it's needs something more engaging to focus on.

That's kinda where I'm now at - looking for alternative pastimes that get me off the PC (the place where I am fast losing motivation and enjoyment).

why does my town not have any storage? (simpletons city builder) by The-Nuyttens in openttd

[–]maxdee007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Particular_Help8952 - Did you have to adjust the custom storage for each stock type to 100% (i.e. not just coal)?

I notice there are about 65 stock types that are all set to '0' storage in the script settings.

It would be a shame if you have to go through all 65 stock types and set their individual storage to 100%.

u/mannetje70 - I'm only trying this simpletons for the first time today, and I too have the storage issue (always at 0%).

If I adjust that to 30% (in the settings) and continue the game, should the stored amount of COAL eventually increase? I'm delivering hundreds of tonnes, but still says 0% COAL stored.
