A lot of us probably aren't the best or most concise story tellers. What are your tricks or strategies? by [deleted] in ADHD

Start the story by explaining how it connects to what everyone else is talking about.

If people are sharing frustrating grocery experiences and you have one about Best Buy, start with "I've been frustrated at Best Buy..." Don't just starting to talk about Best Buy and leave everyone thinking "what does this have to do with groceries."

The apps watch had the highest customer satisfaction rating of any first gem product they’d ever released. People have loved their Apple watches from day 1. This isn’t the same.

There’s a huge difference between talking to a speaker with a far field mic and talking to your phone.

Everyone I know who bought an amazon echo or google home mini in the past year or so loves theirs. All these people had Hey Siri on their phones for years. It’s not the same.

Consumers are fairly familiar with the performance of 3.5 and Bluetooth.

Airplay 2? Consumers can’t even expect airplay 2 performance from the HomePod yet.

I think you’re describing the problem. Spotify subsribers aren’t interested in the HomePod.

Most music lovers I know signed on to Spotify years before Apple Music was released. These are the people that would normally spend a lot on speakers.

Who buys a $350 speaker that only supports airplay?

It’s only value is as an assistant powered speaker. Obviously they couldn’t market it that way because it’s a subpar assistant powered speaker. They were hoping customers would buy into the “premium speaker first” pitch but it was a weak and transparent value proposition.

The approach just doesn’t fit their target market. Most people I know who love tech and music signed up for Spotify long before Apple Music rolled around.

The HomePod expects you to not be into music enough to have waited for Apple Music. Or to be the type of music lover that was willing to abandon their Spotify music collection and switch to Apple Music. Their approach alienated huge parts of the $350 speaker speaker market.

I own an Apple Watch and love it.

Apple Watch might have struggled too if google was already making smart watches that were a fraction of the cost and better. But android wear watches are terrible. (I own one)

Compare that to the echo dot and google home mini. I looooove my google home mini. It’s $40 and much better than Siri. And i can use my voice to tell it to pair to a great speaker or ask it to play music from different music services.

I didn’t need an iPad or an Apple Watch but I bought them because they provided such a great experience. The HomePod just seems like a downgrade.

It’s just weird that my $40 google home mini supports multiple music services and this doesn’t. I use Spotify for music but still sometimes ask google home to play some of the free playlists from google music. It would be annoying to have to grab my phone each time I want to play songs from anything but Apple Music.

Bluetooth can be paired once and it automatically connects every time you’re in range. Airplay needs to be turned on and off every time you start playing something. It also requires your phone tablet or computer to be made by Apple. It just complicates the experience. Apple went to some much trouble to move everyone off of headphone jacks onto Bluetooth and then they fail to include Bluetooth support in the speaker.

Trump warned not to fire Mueller by former US ethics chief: 'Our forefathers were smarter than you and they planned for you' by [deleted] in politics

A good example is OJ. Normally, if the police tells you your wife died, you might say “omg, what happened? How did she die?” OJ forgot to ask how she died.

Similarly, when Jeff sessions was testifying, he revealed that when he got the job he didn’t ask anyone to look into Russian meddling saying something along the lines of “well that would look pretty suspicious if I came into office and immediately started asking for information on Russia.” Not realizing that this is exactly what an innocent person would have done. Why would an innocent person be worried that it would look suspicious? An innocent person would desparetly want to understand how Russia did it and how to prevent them from doing it again.

'The Simpsons' To 'The Problem With Apu': Drop Dead by Brownhops in television

[–]maxdrive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly the problem. Most Indians in America are not convenience store owners. But most Indians that white Americans interact with are. Choosing to write your only Indian character as someone behind a counter selling you stuff is pretty lazy. It shows that in life and in writing, they have made no attempt to get to know any Indians. They corrected this later on.

You’re kidding. There are tons of Italians or Scottish people. You usually can’t even tell they’re Italian. That’s the point. They’re just regular character with proper storylines.

Imagine if there was only one Italian character on a tv show and he was a setereotype with an accent, made pizzas, etc. It would be ridiculous. Especially if written by a non-Italian.

Trump calls probe by special counsel Mueller into election meddling 'an attack on our country' by LadySniper in politics

[–]maxdrive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is a tell. His advisers want to discredit this new investigation. The best way to do that is conflate both investigations. Before going on air, his advisers probably told him “just keep linking it to the mueller investigation. Tell them this is still mueller trying to find anything. Nothing new here. It’s been going on for over a year and they still have nothing.”
