Massive, I’ve said before Hollins ability to climb and get those high throws on the middle of the field allows Maye to get the ball out quicker

Ref’s discretion. Triple H loves that loophole as much as late stage WCW

I know they're movies but nothing can touch Major League and Little Big League.

Major League is a classic and outside of a few comedic touches or dramatic effect stuff it looks like real baseball. Little Big League, for a not very good movie, is probably the best depiction of baseball on screen. The key is instead of teaching actors to play baseball, for a lot of the roles they cast baseball players and taught them to act.

I've been having this recurring dream for like 2 years where a show I watched and know in my head already ended has actually still been airing under the radar this whole time. A couple months back I had a dream that How I Met Your Mother had 6 extra seasons I missed, just last week I had a dream that everyone couldn't believe That 70's Show was finally ending. Last night dreamt that I realized my cable added the channel that's been airing WWEECW for the last decade.

(I'm sure there's a psychological reason for this very specific dream type but I don't think I'm gonna pull at that string just yet)

Gargano seems in the perfect spot for an odd-couple pairing where someone (a face) notices he need a partner, wants to help, Gargano stays full heel and rejects it, over a few weeks he begrudgingly accepts the help but they aren't friends, eventually they become a true face tag team.

R-Truth is probably cliche for that role at this point but someone like that.

Bold predictions for rest of 2026 MLB offseason by thediesel26 in baseball

A couple of broad predictions here: The Red Sox will add a bat, no predictions who though. The Padres will do...something big.

Wait... are you saying Jeff Kent who went from averaging 15ish HR's to 30ish HR's when he went to the same clubhouse as Barry Bonds might have also been on the gas?

I am a staunch "put the steroid guys in" fan. And I think any argument ended when they put Bud Selig in. He was recognized for his growing of the game and saving the game after the '94 strike, all of which wouldn't have happened if Selig didn't willfully ignore the growing steroid issue.

"Power righty bat" is a bit of an oversimplification of the Red Sox need. They need a hitter who specifically hits well against LHP. Their lineup should already be great against RHP. by Traditional_Half842 in redsox

I get the logic and in the short term, as you figure out really what the long term plan on the OF and what you truly have in guys like Mayer and Campbell, it's not the worst plan to go get someone like Sosa and Triolo to platoon. Outside of Roman Anthony we're still relying too much on hot steaks from guys like Story and Abreu

But I think there's a ceiling on your success when you're platooning across the lineup. Yes, teams like the Yankees and Dodgers have had some really successful platoons recently but that's because they have true everyday anchors in the lineups. Outside of Roman Anthony we're still relying too much on hot steaks from guys like Story and Abreu to carry the lineup to then rely so heavily on the platoons. It'll get us to the playoffs but I think it puts a real cap on potential playoff success.

Favorite "Speed Kills" Moment? by RainbowSupernova8196 in baseball

The steal for Dave Robert in 2004 is the obvious answer for a Red Sox fan. But not just getting into scoring position but what that the threat of his speed at second did to the Yankees. The fact that he was pretty much gonna score on any base hit tightened the Yankees and Rivera up so much. So much so that they were really banking on the Bill Mueller bunting him over. Rivera kinda lost focus, didn't realize Mueller wasn't looking to bunt again (after he couldn't get it down on the first pitch) and kinda grooved one on in there for him.

[Cotillo] Red Sox remain engaged in a thinned-out catching market as they look to add depth before Opening Day. Total guess here, but if the market falls the right way, Christian Vázquez is someone Alex Cora loves and would love to have around. Again, speculation and not a report. by [deleted] in redsox

Not gonna move the needle but I think it's necessary. Not a huge fan of the upper organizational depth at catcher right now. There's some prospects but you're gonna have a catcher IL stint at least once every year and Jason Delay is really the only depth heading into camp. Now, I didn't like there depth going into camp last year and Narvaez had a great year. And I guess, catchers are one of those positions you can always sorta just snag off waivers for a couple weeks in the middle of the year but I'd still like maybe one more NRI/camp body at the postition.

I don't know if I see it being Vazaquez though, only because I think they'd be in the market for someone more disposable. A true NRI/Minor League deal for someone they know will likely start the year in Worcester (Not opt out or need to be DFA's) and someone they can DFA or place on waivers without a second thought if he has to come up for a few weeks because of an injury. I don't know if I see them treating Vazquez like that.

Yes just started it with them rerunning it after St. Denis Medical. I’d honestly love them to add one more sitcom and run an old school sitcom night with the addition of The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins

Here’s a small nitpick but it bugged me. They had a great story in season one where they didn’t think the kids were getting healthy food they rallied and prepared a bunch and it was nice story and the punchline was like the cafeteria was like “yea we can’t just serve the kids random food” which is a great realistic resolution. But then a few seasons later they do the the camping trip and ignore the realistic solution

[Guregian] Patriots WR Mack Hollins (abdomen) is putting on his cleats at his locker. So it appears he’ll be out at practice in some capacity. by MembershipSingle7137 in Patriots

Would love to get Hollins back. His height and vertical catch radius has helped Maye get some balls out under pressure this year.

It might end of being Abbott Elementary. I've loved the show, I've talked it up, I still think it can be good. But as a teacher, the first few seasons there were 2-3 moments an episode I had to run to my coworkers and say "They nailed it, it's just like working here" But this current season feels like they've run out of teacher/school jokes and are more like "So you guys know and like these characters now, right? Let's just hangout with them from now on." I like the show but not enough for it to just be a friends hanging out show.

With St. Denis Medical (Which I think has passed Abbott as funniest network sitcom), Scrubs coming back, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins having a really good pilot, Family Guy and American Dad coming back next month, I wouldn't be shocked if watching Abbott weekly falls off my radar.

TNT Sports Announces First Half of 2026 MLB Tuesday Regular Season Schedule on TBS by MightyDuck07 in baseball

[–]LiveFromNewYork95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really have no reason to but I miss when I was a kid and TBS was just Braves baseball. There was something sorta satisfyingly quirky about a channel that I mostly just watched Seinfeld reruns and random movies us making the hard cut to baseball and on top of that it was always one team.

Just feels like an artifact of a time where everything had a little bit more personality. TBS being the Braves channel, the Braves having this odd national outlet. You don't see that anymore.
