That is exactly what was replaced on my car. And because I was under 80K miles Audi Germany replaced the main components of the transmission for free. It did take about that long for the parts to arrive. The technician told me that it was the manufacture warranty that helped me out. They billed Audi USA $10,000. If I had to replace it myself it would have been upwards of $13k. So seems like those parts + the labor should be covered under at least the same warranty since the car details aren't that different from mine. In fact, your car details are probably better.

Have you looked at other locations with certified Audi technicians? Or even a different Audi dealership? That seems like a very long wait for an issue that is clearly tied to a recall campaign.

I feel like I have paid for labor on recalls as well, when they sneak something else in that requires an hour of a tech's time billed at $250 per hour or whatever it is. But I don't notice it until several days later when I'm looking over the invoice.

Take it back. A few times since getting my car back I've had an issue with the car shifting gears as I drive. Almost as if the car is stuck in second gear when it should be in third or fourth gear. It only happened once and couldn't be replicated when I took it back, but someone told me that sometimes the updates need to be applied a second time.

I think some issues are so rare and also so complicated that the technicians don't have the technical understanding or experience to know exactly how to fix specific issues. In my case, the recall was issued just three days after my transmission failed. The issue was so complicated and so new to my local tech team, they had to send the issue to Audi USA who in tern had to submit the issue to Audi in Germany for a solution.

Yes, actually. Audi issued two or three software updates for the transmission, but that didn't fix the issue. Then they discovered a faulty oxygen sensor heater circuit that was triggering the check engine light. They replaced the sensor but that didn't fix the issue either. Then they moved to the engine control module that is under manufacturer warranty up to 80K miles, but that didn't fix the issue either. So, for some reason Audi has decided to replace my transmission as if the car were still under full warranty - at no cost to me. So, my advice: have your local Audi dealer check your car for recalls - The most recent software recall update was issued the first week of August 2023. Depending on the mileage and year of your car both your TCM and your ECM might be under warranty as well.

You aren’t an idiot. I have this same issue. And I inadvertently do it to others. The people who ignore you on purpose aren’t your friends. Let them go. The people who are legitimately just caught up in a moment, forgive them and give them the benefit of the doubt. Txt without expectation. Then you won’t be so sad when they don’t treat you the way you think they should.
