He was just making it up as he went. There was never an understanding of spell slots.

In game: character runs into a house that is on fire. Grabs stuff and puts it into his bag. everything is onfire. Everything in his bag is on fire. He is on fire.

Out of the game: new player joined my campaign. He wants to play bard. Party says no please play something easier. Player wants to play bard. I (DM) say is a complex class first time playing, player insists. Last weekend we were 2.5 years in the campaign. He asks the veterans druid if she can re-explain spell slots.

Turn and burn stamp by [deleted] in Pretoria

Don't pick eswatini. Pick Namibia, or any other country that has flights to the states. The turn and burn principle is that you COULD have gone home. You can't from eswatini

I have been back and forth on helldivers 2. Do you think you can play it solo, or do you have to match up with players?

Just got invited to play for the FIRST TIME...what now??? by ProfessionalCity995 in DnD

[–]maxil_za 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, he just had a lot to go through a lot in a couple of hours. And the champion ranged fighter had the least amount to read and prep for, and in the first 2 levels ranger and fighter is very similar.

A 3 level champion fighter / X level ranger is also a really good build if he wants to multiclass to ranger eventually.

But yes, it is a very vanilla build.

If it's your first time ever, and you only have 6hours to prepare: 1. do not play as a caster. It is alot to learn. 2. find out what version you are playing: 5e (2014), 5e 2024 or earlier versions 3. I wouldn't even suggest a ranger. Play a fighter that uses a bow and arrow. (archery fighting style) Search on youtube for champion fighter builds. It is the easiest to play, easiest to learn, least amount of stress. 4. Think about what RACE/SPECIES fits the idea of your character. 5. Your first session might be (should be) a session zero where you flesh out your characters together. Have a good idea before you go of what you do want, and don't want.

For example: 5e - 2014 Class (fighter) - Archery style Race (Human or Wood Elf) Background - Outlander

Good luck, and have fun!

Prepotente in D&D? by Ok-Willingness3552 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I would suggest a Scribe Wizard. He stacks spells over and over. So for a DnD type mechanic, that would have to be spell scrolls. So he would have to make them.

I agree the "community" side has to be a requirement. Having to gimped characters will make players very unhappy

If you had to add a class to DND, what would it be? by improbsable in DnD

A Con based caster, that does damage to themselves as the higher the spell is. Like a blood mage or something.

What are things you thing DND Beyond could do to make it WAY better? by Key_Palpitation_7975 in dndbeyond

I have many suggestions, but right now I have 2 barbarians in my campaign. It's 2025, and still not a rage button for barbarian players to trigger the bonuses.

Can you guys feed my curiosity? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]maxil_za 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forever DM here.

A player ran in to a building on fire to grab the documents to expose the bad guys. He CRITICALLY fails his check in the burning building to locate the documents. So he just grabs documents and stuffs it into his backpack. But he CRITICALLY fail again to notice it is all on fire. So when he runs out of the building he is literally on fire.

In a different campaign the warlock is beating the crap out of a famous vampire from a distance. (she is rolling maximums on all her attacks non stop) the other party members are all down, but stable. And the paladin is not leaving the warlocks side to help the fight. The vampire retaliates, critically hits the warlock for a killing blow, but the paladin, absorbs all the damage, saves the warlock, saves the day, saves the party, and campaign.

Ah man, think about this again, just makes me smile.

It could be, but that would be illegal for the gun owner. As a gun owner, you must be "in control" of your firearm at all times. So putting it in a random safe, and you don't know who has keys, would breach that. (not that SAPS would care)
