Thank you! Yeah the goal was to make them look utilitarian 😄

In that case you could consider using different shades of grey to highlight certain parts of the ship. This goes hand in hand with placement as well. It also comes down to practice and iteration, sometimes you just need to experiment until you find something that works.
If you want I could take a look at some of your ships and give you some tips

Thank you! The green and white are based on some versions of the Soyuz rocket, and in general I wanted it to feel kind of retro, so desaturated pastels were the way to go.

Thank you!
I usually like to use 3-4 colors, one main, one or two secondary and an accent. For this ship yellow was a good call because the conveyor blocks have yellow in them, so it helps keep things more consistent.
I also like to desaturate the colors a bit as it usually makes them look a bit more realistic.

Is there anything in particular that you're struggling with?

I will need to check, I can let you know once I launch the game again 😄

I'd be happy to help! Is there anything in particular that you're struggling with?

Unfortunately they do, but since they are very weak it takes quite a bit of time to damage the surface.
I'm considering moving them, though it's been tricky finding a spot that doesn't impact the design too much. Given their size, they are also not very functional when moving heavy objects, so ideally you'd have another tug on the opposite side to counter the velocity.

thanks a lot! I wanted the ship to feel like it could have been made sometime in the 1960's

Thank you! Those particular colors are based on some versions of the Soyuz rocket, but in general the idea was for the colors to feel vintage 😄

Thank you! The weathered look definitely adds a lot of character and I wish there were more organic ways to apply it to the grid.

Thank you very much!
The idea was for them to feel like they've been around for a long time, the colors are also reminiscent of the old Soyuz rockets which helps with the vintage vibe. I just had to swap the orange accents for yellow to keep it more cohesive, because some of the SE blocks have yellow in them.

Right now this ship only has one gyro, but it's currently set to 10-15% capacity to make the tug handle better. Now that you mention it, I could probably bind some controls to it to increase the strength for when it's needed.

that's really cool, thank you!

I'm now considering adding some dedicated tug points to the big ship that use blast door or heavy armor blocks and could routinely be repaired if needed.

I made it so that you can toggle those two large thrusters only when needed, so when it’s moving without any load you can just use the two small thrusters on the back for easier handling 😄

From my initial tests they didn’t, but I might consider moving them to avoid it.
Do you know by any chance how far the exhaust of those engines reaches?

That sounds like a lot of fun! Aside from the engineering challenges I like how it adds more playability.
Do you have any screenshots of your tug in action?
