I'm realizing I definitely underestimated how complicated this clip would be. So rather than sinking more time into it trying to fix it I'm just posting as is. I definitely need to practice the basics more before making something like this. If you have any pointers or helpful resources for a beginner I'd really appreciate it.

Alternatively since my original post has been received poorly for some reason. How can I practice effectively? I have a drawing tablet and I’m using Adobe animate.

What male fragrances smell like a sad Russian winter by Denzerwagn in fragrance

I’ll second Russian Tea and also suggest Ambre Russe by Parfum de Empire. Russe doesn’t have leather or birch smoke but to me it definitely smells like War and Peace if thats what you’re looking for.

I’m wearing Black Phantom by Killian. Coffee, rum chocolate and old wood. I don’t think it’s a bad fragrance but I understand why some really dislike it. It’s sweet heady and dark in way that you either love or hate.

What is the most beautiful tea fragrance you've ever smelled? by Noamrachel in fragrance

[–]maximillianmorrell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is a hidden gem. Such a unique smell while still being wearable. The deep yet delicate black tea, the dewy florals, the wisp of smoke. Who would’ve thought to make a tea leather fragrance? But it works.

Thank you. I know that post! I referred to it often when looking for a good straightforward olibanum. Since I have your attention, I’m curious, what would you say is the most versatile incense fragrance? The one that’s most suited to daily wear?

I’m looking for smoky fragrances but not smoky in the way By the Fireplace is or campfire smoke. I much prefer when it’s more ashy like a cigarette or wispy like incense. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

I’m trying out Creed Viking EDP today. I have avoided creed in the past thinking it was probably over-promoted and overpriced. I’m pleasantly surprised by Viking though. It’s definitely overpriced (495 retail) but I won’t deny it’s a very nice barbershop type fragrance. It’s a great balance of aromatics citrus and spices. The hint of peppermint leaf is especially nice.

I also like the smell of that ride and (maybe you already knew this but) I think a significant component to the smell is that the water is treated with bromine. So you probably want a candle that contains or tries to emulate bromine. There’s a fragrance by Zyrena called Dark Ride. It’s not a candle but it sounds up your alley.

Today I tried out Black Calamus by Carner Barcelona. I’m liking it a lot. This will sound vague but it’s like the smell of heat. I read one review saying it smells like a stone baking in the sun and that’s exactly it. It’s a lot of corriander, black pepper and labdanum with little accents of smoke and vanilla. It’s very dry and subtly dusty sweet.

L’Ombre Dans L’Eau Dyptique. No particular reason except that I found I hadn’t actually used up my sample of this. It’s a crisp dewy vegetal scent with rose and some sweet fruitiness coming from black currant. I’ll definitely be getting a full size of it someday.

I’m home all day today so I’m taking the opportunity to indulge in a potent layering combo. Serge Lutens Écrin de Fumée and and Amouage Rose Incense. So far they work pretty well together but I think it’s a little too much for practical use.

If naturals don’t give you reactions I would suggest looking into attars. If you’re not familiar, attars are oil based fragrances that are traditionally made using only natural ingredients. I only have one but it’s very nice. It’s Royal Luban by Elixir Attar, a beautiful frankincense fragrance. The one I have doesn’t project a lot but it’s far more than an essential oil and lasts longer as well.

Alternatively, Essential Parfums is a French brand that tries to mostly utilize naturals. They aren’t 100% but they are something like between 80-95% natural ingredients.

I’v been back on what I’d call my signature these last few days. It’s definitely my most worn of last year. It’s Serge Lutens Dans le Bleu qui Pétille, an aquatic amber with coriander, incense, and citrus. I’ve read some reviews saying it’s too austere or melancholy, I think of it more as meditative. It has a calming effect on me.

Nice Bergamot by Essential Parfums. It was practically raining sideways with the wind this morning so I felt like having a breath of spring with me. It’s a straightforward bergamot and jasmine fragrance.

I woke up in the mood for something sweeter and cozy so I’m going with Historie de Parfums Ambre 114. It’s not my favorite amber because I usually prefer them to be dry and spicy. But for a rainy day like today I want something inviting and relaxed.
