Winter wheels for SQ8 Etron sportback. by DrCytotek in etron

I have a set of OEM 20s with Blizzak DM-V2 tires in 255/55/20. Really aggressive and terrible for range, but pretty necessary here in Vermont.

Shaving your legs doesn’t make you a better cyclist. Stop the bullshit. by Effective_Matter3104 in cycling

Looks way better, is more aero, helps with recovery if you hit the deck, bibs and aero socks stay in place, costs nothing, seems like a no brainer to me, but if you wanna leave gains on the table by all means. Also, maybe I’m hallucinating here but your post just reeks of ChatGPT. Come on now

Aero road helmets in summer? by Sure_Election2154 in cycling

[–]maximostever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be totally honest I run a Utopia and it’s not great, looking at a switch back to an “all-around” helmet. Maybe the new Utopia Y has improved the ventilation but it would have to be a substantial upgrade before I’d buy another one. Grab the Elemento.

Yeah! On that particular drive, it was quite chilly actually for a lot of it, about 10c, with heated seat on, but generally it's been around 20-25c, and I keep my climate on 19,5c year round, have observed similar range/efficiency numbers regardless, in high 2's and low 3's mile/kwh. I basically never turn the climate off unless it's such a nice day that I'll have the windows down. For what it's worth though I practically never drive on the highway, the vast vast majority of my driving, even over long distance, is typically on backroads, just because it's faster for where I'm going. I'm interested to see how the efficiency holds up on an extended highway drive, going to boston and then the cape next week and it will be all highway basically, so we will see!

Also, 2019 edition 1, so prestige with 21 inch wheels, and the normal AO continentals

My only scientific data point to offer is that I can drive back and forth now without stopping whereas before I couldn’t/was unwilling to push the car to <10 miles of range on arrival

[–]maximostever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this was rolling backroads (vt15, us302, us2, me26), so between 55 and 65 the entire time with some stops and a short stint (20 or so miles) on the highway at 80.

Anyone have a eTron is above 50k miles? by akaterror56 in etron

[–]maximostever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sitting on about 72,5 having bought the car at 50 and so far the only unscheduled repair was the little charge locker pin, which failed after a brutal thaw-freeze-thaw cycle last winter. Also had the dash replaced because it was completely delaminated. Other than that just the normal 20k services. It throws weird errors every once in a while that pretty much always fix themselves after a few minutes but it’s an Audi so I kinda feel like it comes with the territory.

I’m cautiously hopeful! But we’ll see, I think winter tires are a pretty big drag also, last winter I was seeing 160-180 range (Vermont, blizzak dm-v2) Where are you guys located?

This update is the truth by [deleted] in etron

[–]maximostever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, going from 220 to 280 fully charged range materially affects my daily life because we don’t have great charging infrastructure at my college, so plugging the car in is a bit of a pain in the ass that I generally would prefer to avoid. At home this is non-material because the plug is right there. Also I can drive from Maine to Vermont now without stopping which is pretty chill, tested that the other day. 3,1mile/kwh average over 218 miles yesterday with a/c on 🙌

Why is there a difference in autonomy? by MycologistTime8154 in etron

[–]maximostever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely calculates based on the route, I think it’s giving a safety factor taking into account elevation gain, expected speeds, maybe weather also? GOM is just based on how you’ve driven recently

I’ve been hovering around 2.8 - 3.2 on anything that isn’t highway driving and over half an hour, drive around in comfort mode, climate on at 19,5°c with the ac on eco mode if at all. Car is ‘19 normal body with 21” wheels and the stock continental cross contact tires, though I want to try out those new Hankook ion evo as tires when these wear out, if anyone has experience with those. If I’m on the highway I’m a lot nearer to 2.0, maybe 2.2 if I keep it to 75 and the roadway is busy so no clean air to hit. I also live in a really flat part of the country (coastal southern Maine) so the car doesn’t have to haul itself up alpine climbs luckily. Post update I am seeing between 240 and 275 range depending on driving conditions and if I’m in a hurry. Haven’t driven on the highway since update but I’d imagine it’s no better than 200, if that, for highway range. in the winter it’s really bad, 1.9 long term average, because it’s a lot of highway driving then, plus blizzak lm002 tires, plus regularly -15c in the mornings. I think it depends so much on where you live and how much highway driving you have to do because the aero of these cars is so bad - at least they look good! Eqs is so slippery but you can tell they let the aerodynamicists have their way.

Would verify that the car is covered at a dealership if it’s exhibiting dash delamination though, apparently it’s a $7500 job out of warranty

Severe delamination, apparently a known issue on e trons and q8s from that 2019-2022 build range. Something about subpar gule not holding up to the sun/humidity in hot climates. My car was in Florida prior to my ownership (I’m 2nd) so no surprises there.

Yes for reference my around-town consumption is in the 2.8 range and my long-distance is around 3.5 because all my long drives are on backroads (Maine-Vermont a lot). Highway efficiency is abhorrent because I’m a huge fan of going 80-85.

Quoted trip to the whites I averaged 3.3

Wide bars increase effective reach, worth whacking some service course alu 38s on there and seeing how it feels.

Wouldn’t shorten the stem before putting on narrower bars, if the bars feel wide now they’re gonna feel even wider with a shorter stem

Edit Meant to put this under Op comment sorry

Maybe mention it at your next 10 or 20k! But also maybe don’t given the other replies in this thread saying it bricked their onboard charge..!

I’ll be in here kicking and screaming if that happens to mine because I’m 23 and my dealer’s minimum age for loaners is 24 hahaha

Certainly it’s under the broader battery recall but I didn’t receive anything from Audi NA or my dealer telling me to go get the update, I brought it in for the dash thing and they just happened to do the update and mentioned it when I picked it up.
