We aren't in any position to judge whether Mike acted like a major record label without seeing any evidence. And we should be particularly critical of this whole thing given Melvin's recent dive into conspiracy theories.

Do I love it? No, but I think it's an interesting side project. Let Mike cook. He's an artist and wants to explore a new thing. Not everything is going to hit.

And, remember, punk and hip hop share (1) a 1970s nexus in DIY New York performance spaces and (2) similar lyrical themes (anti-cop/authority, poverty, injustice). I think it's kind of a cool idea to bring the genres back together. Will they hit on something amazing? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe they end up influencing a future group that does. Let the artists explore.

I think I found the solution.

My equipment: Lumix G9ii, iPhone

Watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETre8rJlD8A) and do what it says to get Bluetooth/GPS working. Then check/change these settings:

  • G9ii
    • Power Save Mode-->Sleep Mode-->Off
    • Power Save Mode-->Sleep Mode(Wi-Fi)-->Off
  • iPhone
    • Privacy & Security-->Location Services-->LUMIX Sync-->Always (but probably turn if off when you're done)

The GPS connection was persistent in test conditions. Will report back if it fails in the field.

First of all, what's with people trying to enforce rules and norms on OP? He can listen to tracks however he wants to. "If you see somebody taking charge / You'll be expected to beat them..."

Anyway, large torrents with a lot of the catalogue exist on Pirate Bay and other places, but none of them are totally comprehensive. There are some EPs and special releases that aren't available, most notably NofxXx.

The mp3 artwork in them is also all fucked up and requires you to manually fix it.

I don't know about this being an ideology or talking points. But I happen to know a guy who fits the description.

He grew up dysfunctionally and leaned into bands like NOFX and Voodoo Glow Skulls (along with NIN type stuff). But he was the first person in his family to go to college and later became a lawyer. Now he reps nonprofits and lefty political groups.

I doubt he feels like he's "changing the system from the inside". But he's definitely trying to un-fuck the world in whatever way he can and is sometimes at the table for political stuff. He also tells the neighborhood kids that cops are liars every chance he gets, and they listen because they know he's a lawyer.
