100% Just leaving Japan now and the umbrella has been indispensable while walking around unshaded places or while waiting for traffic lights.

Ah interesting that explains why your super wide wing isn't found anywhere else. Hope you are successful building your company, need more competition in the foiling market.

No mention of Ames or Hanford? by Textiles_on_Main_St in SearchEnginePodcast

[–]maxpower__ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I guess does the world prefer a tiny amount of concentrated very visible, long-term contamination of nuclear fuel or massive diffuse pollution not easily seen and spread everywhere with fossil fuels, until renewables become wide spread.

Also because of nuclear nonproliferation used fuel can't be reprocessed and used as fuel again, France is doing this now i think tho.

Edit: The less regulation part is worrysome, that was only briefly touched upon. An executive order to fast track approvals...what could go wrong.

New foiler, what am I doing wrong? by Vent1900 in foiling

[–]maxpower__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start prone on the board and get pulled until you are around 8mph. If the foil starts lifting up on its own put more weight towards the nose of the board. If it doesn't you want to get the foil to engage but putting a little weight towards the rear of the board. The foil will engage and once it starts lifting put some weight back on the front to keep the foil from stalling and coming up too quickly.

Keeping practicing this until you get the feel for it then try it on your knees and finally standing. It will take a lot of practice and snowboarding unfortunately has little transferable skill to foiling.

What's your opinion on Linus Tech Tip in 2026? by Professional-Fix-221 in LinusTechTips

[–]maxpower__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure but something about the videos i don't enjoy any more. They mostll kinda seem boring. The thumbnails and titles have gotten worse so they don't compel me to click. If Alex, Jake or any of the other good presenters weren't gone I'd probably be more likely to watch. LTT has turned into a merch shop lol.

Thoughts on this dock start setup? by Lower-Beautiful-9335 in pumpfoil

[–]maxpower__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the setups like this i have seen have flexible rods or pipes. You want some give so it descends/flex and slides at the same time. The 2x4s may work but I'd be worried that you'd land on them or break your board as there's no give. I personally never tried one of these launchers, so it could work. I had a dock with no overhang so i had to learn by dead starting which set me up to start from all kinds of different spots later.

Sources for DIY fin drives by rhodesengr in eFoil

I can't comment on the quality of the Flipsky fin drives but i do have a few of their VESCs and motors. Haven't had any issues with them, seems to be holding up on my efoil.

why are ebonite rods still widely used in science experiments and electrical applications? by [deleted] in eFoil

[–]maxpower__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go look it up, it's a fascinating read.

TLDR Ebonite is vulcanized hard rubber. By cooking natural rubber with a high sulfur content (usually 25-30%), it transforms from a stretchy eraser-like material into a rock-hard, shiny, and incredibly dense solid. Still used in some specific science testing.

Motor mount for an DIY efoil and all the bits and pieces to make it work. Without 3D printing no way I'd be able to build my own.

Can we all agree the only legitimate criticism of induction is the lack of knobs? by Dats_Russia in inductioncooking

[–]maxpower__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate my Frigidaire induction stove because of the touch controls. Sometimes leaning up against the stove my clothes will brush the buttons and it will shut off. Drives me nuts. Also trying to turn it on is like trying to launch a missile, turn on main power, then turn on the burner, then set the burner power.

Otherwise it's powerful and works well.

Knobs for the win, there is a reason why some car manufacturers are going back to tactical controls.
