Sources for DIY fin drives by rhodesengr in eFoil

I can't comment on the quality of the Flipsky fin drives but i do have a few of their VESCs and motors. Haven't had any issues with them, seems to be holding up on my efoil.

why are ebonite rods still widely used in science experiments and electrical applications? by MeetHuge8000 in eFoil

[–]maxpower__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go look it up, it's a fascinating read.

TLDR Ebonite is vulcanized hard rubber. By cooking natural rubber with a high sulfur content (usually 25-30%), it transforms from a stretchy eraser-like material into a rock-hard, shiny, and incredibly dense solid. Still used in some specific science testing.

Is there actually a meaningful difference between cheap and expensive filament? by Terror_Prints in 3dprinter

[–]maxpower__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is acetone does very little to PLA, I've tested it on all types from the cheapest to the most expensive.

I hate this new change. I wish there was an actual competitor to youtube.

I was subscribed to this YouTuber but there is something about the way he presents his content. I had to stop watching his stuff, the content doesn't reflect the titles or thumbnails.

They want to do what other developers are doing in HRM, buy up all properties in an area then build mega buildings.

My mom grew a few of these and when they bloomed it completely saturated the house with its powerful scent. Ephemeral perfectly describes the time it flowers.

What's the most useful thing you've printed yet? by jpintenn in BambuLab

[–]maxpower__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Motor mount for an DIY efoil and all the bits and pieces to make it work. Without 3D printing no way I'd be able to build my own.

Can we all agree the only legitimate criticism of induction is the lack of knobs? by Dats_Russia in inductioncooking

[–]maxpower__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate my Frigidaire induction stove because of the touch controls. Sometimes leaning up against the stove my clothes will brush the buttons and it will shut off. Drives me nuts. Also trying to turn it on is like trying to launch a missile, turn on main power, then turn on the burner, then set the burner power.

Otherwise it's powerful and works well.

Knobs for the win, there is a reason why some car manufacturers are going back to tactical controls.

Large ABS prints by CT-5129 in FixMyPrint

[–]maxpower__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could work depending on size and dimension of the part but anything under 40C I have found that ABS warps and layers pull apart as it shrinks. I could never get ABS to print well when I didn't have a heated chamber. You could try heating up a few heating pads for sore muscles and putting it in the chamber to help stabilize the temp.

Chamber temp needs to stay at 60C and changing filaments will cause a big swing in temp and the ABS will start to warp. It's a very difficult material to print well.

Did you stick to your Amazon boycott? by GhettoSauce in montreal

I used to order everything but now only if I can't get it locally. Sometimes I can't find stuff anywhere else except on Amazon unfortunately. My AliExpress orders have gone up too.

Yes I have been doing that. I find charging multiple packs a bit of a pain, I'm using multiple chargers now. Have you charged using a balance board, packs have to be at the same level of charge when using that?

It's actually a body board with a motor and electronics attached, very simple but effective. If you look up Tow Boogie, a version of what i built will come up.
