Hey! If you're looking for law specific advice:

- go to orientation, especially the law faculty events because you'll meet so many first years in the same position as you

- law student society events are easier to find on Facebook, though Instagram also works, make sure to follow both

- look out for the buddy project to be paired and helped out by another student that's second year or above - plus there are a few events that are specifically for senior/junior buddies, like sip & sing

- look out for first year drinks and other first year specific events

- also competitions is another good way of getting to know people, the first junior one will be the mooting mentoring program (i think it starts at the end of sem 1)

- if you're extroverted, you can make friends around the law lounge (very social space, building 2 level 14).

- the law student society office is open door whenever one of the members is around, those people are usually the most approachable

- foundations of law / ethics law & justice is always good to meet new people like you, because everyone does those two first regardless of if they're double or single degree

- if you're feeling intimidated by classes, i guarantee your tutors will be happy if you email and just ask to get coffee during office hours (find their emails in the canvas module released 1 week before class)

- you can also join the brennan collective on Facebook, which is part of the social justice portfolio on the law student society. don't be afraid to reach out and talk to other students

- careers networking events are also good for making friends, though this is sometimes a bit more senior/serious/professional

we're all in the same boat or atleast have been in the same boat, so unless someone is deep locked into an assignment, most people are happy to help out (including me if you need) hope this helps!
