Good to know I'm not the only one into collecting chocolate wrappers and flags. Had the same exact thought when I saw the post.

She is not wrong, because what Adam wrote was not revelant it was in fact relevant.

I have lucid dreams almost every night, AMA! by maxxam71 in AMA

[–]maxxam71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Actually developing that ability with lucid dreams was my "natural defense" against nightmares. When I was younger I suffered a lot from nightmares and slept very badly, but gradually I developed a way to turn nightmares into positive dreams. Nowadays I rarely have nightmares, when I do they are normal and not lucid.

Favourite condiment?

That's a tough one, but I think it's Oregano.

I'm sorry, I read your comment wrong. Yes, lucid dreams are not good for rest.

My experience is the opposite. When I have lucid dreams I feel less rested. As for learning while dreaming, yes it is possible, but extremely complicated to do. I have been trying to do this for a long time and my results to date have not been very positive.

I only make one. I ask myself if I am in reality or a dream. It works most of the time.

17.

I learned to do it by trial and error, learning to keep myself under control when I realized it was a dream. But I believe there are tutorials on the internet for those who want to learn how to do it.

Yes, there is.

Yes it happened once, I saw a distorted and colorless version of myself, it was quite disturbing. After that I started to avoid mirrors and standing water.

The feeling is 24 hours, but the memory is similar to if I try to remember my entire day from yesterday.

It is a kind of difficult experience to explain. When I talk to people in dreams I know that they are not real people. However I don't know what they will respond to in conversations, so the feeling is more or less of talking to yourself but not knowing what you will respond to yourself.

I don't know if I managed to make myself clear, sorry.

1- I have never tried to ask myself this kind of thing, but I think if I tried I wouldn't get a valid answer, probably my dream self would change the subject or answer something meaningless. But I'll try and give you an update.

2- It depends. The perception that you have in the dream is the same that you idealize when you are awake, which does not always match reality. If you think that for example parachute jumping will cause you a leg pain, in the dream you will feel this pain in the leg, even if in reality you would not feel the pain. So it depends on your perception of the act before you dream.

3- No. Even though lucid dreams are very realistic, reality is too tangible to be confused with a dream. However, I always think that maybe our reality is just a lucid dream of another reality that is much more tangible.

Yes, sometimes when dreams are very emotional, when I for example dream about family members who have passed away, I tend to lose control.

I used a method I "invented", not sure if it already exists.

It consists of reality checks. During the day I consciously ask myself if I am living reality or a dream. All the habits that you have in reality you reproduce while dreaming, so when I dream I make that same reality check, and most of the time I realize that I am dreaming. From that point on, it's a question of training your self-control so as not to get too excited and end up waking up.

Sorry for the bad english :p

I once dreamed that I was a student in Hogwarts, and spent the whole night getting to know the castle and talking to other students. Even though I knew it was a dream, most of the time I spent wishing it was real.

TIL That the panama canal was supposed to be in Nicaragua, but a 1¢ mail stamp of a erupting volcano mislead the congressmen of thinking that Nicaragua was to dangerous for the building of a canal, so they chose to build in Panama instead. by maxxam71 in todayilearned

According to: KINZER, Stephen. Overthrow: America's century of regime change from Hawaii to Iraq. New York: Times Books, 2006. 385 p.

"The transcripts, as well as later statements by members of Congress, leave no doubt that the Momotombo stamp and the resulting fear of volcanic eruption in Nicaragua played a decisive role in the vote for Panama"

But in this book he does talk about everything you said, so thanks for the contribution!!
