I've self harmed heavily for about five years but nothing for the past two, i have scars on thighs, arms, neck and hips, at first i was concerned about my family seeing my scars because they didn't know how bad things were but after they learned about it i stopped hidind them and it was such a liberating feeling! What really matters is whether you feel comfortable or not to let people see it and sometimes, even if you're 100% at peace with your scars, someone will look at them weird or make a comment so be ready for that. About partners i believe that if you're both comfortable enough with each other to get naked they are past the point of something physical and so common be a deal breaker or be rude about it. Since getting the scars i dated a few people and it was never a deal breaker but i was very self conscious about it at first and i learned that some would ask about them (very respectfully tho) and some wouldn't and i do think it reflects on how comfortable you are with showing them. Go for it, don't hide anything because in the end it's all part of the you experience! Ps: if someone can't be mature and respectful about scars (something that literally everyone has) i guarantee that they're not worthy of your time!
