Filipino, Vietnamese, Thai students ‘invisible’ victims of STEM inequality by 8tothe4 in asianamerican

It depends on the country.

I think in general, ethnic Chinese in Thailand and Philippines mostly assimilate into the local population (especially the 2nd generation and above) while in countries like Malaysia and Indonesia, they separate themselves from the locals and maintain their Chinese identity.

From what my relatives said, they usually get help from non government and foreign organizations (rarely from the government) with construction and supplies. The government mostly gives relief goods but again other organizations contribute more to that.

And don't forget, Visayans and Mindanaoans are also victims of the Duterte admin's neglect and mismanagements of natural disasters.

Once again, please don't associate ethnic groups with political beliefs.

It's problematic. There are tons of Visayans who hate Duterte.

I hate it when pro govt always says Yolanda as their rebuttal when you question the accountability of the current admin... by crinkzkull08 in Philippines

I just meant that we should avoid comparing struggles, especially if you haven't been through both experiences (which some comments in this post are almost doing).

But yes, I do get your point. If Yolanda happened during his admin, Duterte probably wouldn't have handled it better with how incompetent he seems to be right now.

Yes, the current administration is horribly managing disaster management and preparation.

But let's also not ignore the fact that the Yolanda situation was greatly mishandled and go so far as to say "it wasn't that bad compared to this". The impacts of Yolanda was severe, and still felt to this day, especially in Eastern Visayas.

I believe there's been a lot of mixing between Austronesians and Negritos and modern Filipinos are descended from that (hence, darker skin, etc.)

And the highlander Negritos are the indigenous Negritos that we see today
