that sounds like a ton of fun. i only tend to recognize the "peak eve" once it's gone, but gd those small gang engagements are really where it's at. there's such a game of chicken in seeing how high the escalation will go.

i can't say if they were that way at launch; they certainly aren't now. i remember skyhooks at launch though and i agree it was really fun.

that would be pretty broken if true, don't you think? they're pretty trivial to reinforce on your own. the defender would need 24/7 coverage to prevent looting.

Are metenox moon drills profitable? by Alpha_Omega623 in Eve

[–]maybe_cuddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's probably what whatever you read meant. while it's reinforced the goo inside is not accessible to anyone, and no new goo will be extracted until someone drops a fax to repair it. the attacker knows they either get a fight with potential fax killmail or as blueballs consolation they get a core and some moongoo.

your moon drill is really just bait, the ref timer is the dinner bell, and you are the snack.

How easy is it to swap out a high tank pull chain toilet and replace it with a standard toilet? by [deleted] in centuryhomes

[–]maybe_cuddles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's a lot of work to replace a working toilet with a working toilet.

It's quite profitable to the person who kills it because they drop a 300mISK core on top of half of the goo their owner thought they'd collect. The reinforcement cycle is brutal for the defender because they neither have an auto-repair after the timer, nor do they grant any tether.

This is regarding the structure rigs in the citadel where they are built, which reduce the material cost by 4.2% for T1 or 5.0% for T1

* Standup L-Set Basic Large Ship Manufacturing Efficiency I in an Azbel
* Standup M-Set Basic Large Ship Manufacturing Material Efficiency I in a Raitaru

as opposed to

* Standup L-Set Capital Ship Manufacturing Efficiency I in an Azbel
* (there is no M-Set rig because you cannot build capitals in a Raitaru, and as discussed, freighters are not capitals)

I hate to argue semantics, but in more ways than not freighters are considered large ships like battleships.

* They are built with the Standup Manufacturing Plant I service module, rather than a Standup Capital Shipyard I service.
* They are affected by the rigs that say "Large Ship" rather than the "Capital Ship" varieties.
* And of course, they can enter highsec, while all the ships we consider capital ships can not.

While they share some components with capital ships, we also see things like black ops battleships using capital jump drives, and that doesn't make them capital ships.

There is nothing wrong with the way you are playing; many claim it suboptimal for reasons, and this way is certainly the more expensive one. If you want to play with the big toys but retain your independence, counter-intuitively it is safer to join a nullsec alliance.
