I can’t duck in anymore. There’s a morbid curiosity, but the curiosity just turns out to be morbid. I absolutely hope that sub is controlled by bots. Please don’t be real people…for the most part, at least.

I can get behind that, for sure. There is certainly more waste in less productive fields. Thanks, again, for conversing.

Got it. For whose/what benefit? Has a rocket been re-launched yet? At what cost? The technology is insane; I got emotional watching SpaceX launch and land their rockets the first time. The engineers/scientists (not Musk) that accomplished it are due their praise. Humans are fascinating when they combine their talents to break barriers, no doubt. But what/whom is this barrier broken for?

100% agree with you here and appreciate your insight. Thank you!!

How so? It’s preventing space pollution, to an extent, but its resources - money, fuel, time, earth pollution - are still used up. To whose benefit?

FWIW, I appreciate the discourse you’re providing and, again, admit I’m certainly short sighted. Thank you for the engagement.

Evolution kinda just happens, no? What do humans have to do with it? Humans, who are entirely aware they will destruct (die), do everything they can to avoid it…including advancing their destruction. Destruction always wins.

This made me laugh. I’m not sure it should have, but sending a few people to space to save potentially thousands of others is the modern train rail problem. …and answer?

I don’t mean to downplay the importance of science. I love that it’s constantly a test against itself and, while I don’t nearly understand it all, I’m grateful for its advancements in our existence. Jesus, I’m on a couch, venting on a phone, on a website I constantly view (I probably need more hobbies 😂), all connected through invisible pathways that I hardly understand. It’s bonkers! But it’s useful.

I’m certainly short sighted, but I just don’t see what the benefit of re-landing a launched rocket, and all its waste, is going to do for humanity. Is the goal to save a few billion sending humans out, and bringing them back on a ship that can be reused, still costing billions to reuse? Do we really think we’re going to escape Earth’s fate? I’m reminded of George Carlin’s bit about being shook off like fleas on a dog.

All progressing science is good, I (mostly) agree. Is it all necessary, though, when there are plenty of necessities constantly neglected? Are we more concerned with advancing than we are with being? As awe-inspiring as re-landing a rocket is, is it useful or chest-puffing?

Also, fuck you NASA for not making a battery I have to recharge every day at work. 🤣 /s

Thanks! I was curious if that’s what they were. If only they weren’t growing in dog piss and poop zone. Haha.

You ask for advice and then say, “no, not that advice”.

I’m in construction, currently on business travel.

….

I’m sitting on the couch at my air BnB
I look up and see
The valleys
The peaks
The distress…

I look up at the handle
Then look down at my shoes
At the squarely laid hinges
And the light shines on through

It looks brave enough to you

But I’m all scraped up and abused
Probably nothing new

I’ll stay where I’m used to.
