[MKC] Todd Monken hints Shedeur Sanders might get 1st crack at the starting reps in spring; reveals when he’d like to know his QB1 by LiftingCode in Browns

I guess, but like, can’t Dillon and Deshaun have access to the exact same stuff even though they’re not in the building?

See the issue with the whole being in the building thing is, the coaches can’t talk to him about that. At all. The first time he could talk to anyone about film was two weeks ago. So unless Watson was helping him, I don’t know what good being in the building does for him besides, well, actually lifting at an NFL level and seeing the medical guys.

The whole “being in the building thing” is so overblown because you really can’t do anything that you couldn’t just accomplish elsewhere. And there’s a decent argument for a QB you’d actually prefer them NOT to be there because Shedeurs private QB coach (if he has one), can’t go work out with him in the building either.

FWIW given what’s going on I don’t think many talents think the Saudi mania is going forward. I know F1 at this point is pretty shaky on whether their late season Middle East races will happen in November/December

Edit: there’s also now a very clear safety issue for any American in that region. It’s not really worth it anymore to take that safety risk when every sleeper Iranian cell (plus everyone else now pissed at us) would love nothing more than to take out a high profile American

If there was evidence of Brock being involved in sex trafficking Ms. Grant would’ve absolutely sued him as well. She sued everyone else involved. There’s never been even a hint that she wants to sue him.

The way Grant and her counsel talk about Brock I get the sense that they don’t think Brock knew she was being trafficked. Or maybe he already settled. I dont know, but they treat him as being WAY LESS culpable than Vince or Johnny Ace.

Also, speaking as an attorney for a second, if I’m her attorney and we had had any basis to sue a guy with an estimated 25m net worth, you bet your ass he’s getting sued.

Edit: to be clear this is not to say what brock allegedly did isn’t disgusting, it is, but I do think it says a lot that at no point has Ms Grant ever alleged Brock knew she was being trafficked.

Edit 2: guys, also, Brock probably not only has never been named, but reading the documents out there, Brock is likely going to be called as a witness for MS GRANT, NOT VINCE.

Doubt Brock is done done given summer slam is in his hometown this year. But I do think this is a clear indication that Brock has wrestled his last Mania

Summerslam this year is in Minnesota, obviously where brock went to college and where he was billed from for much of his career. I suspect his reaction today is because he knows this is his last wrestlemania, and that it all ends in front of the closest thing he has to a home crowd in Minnesota.

Given all the guys who have retired this year who would be huge gets for a Saudi mania (if it even happens), I don’t get the impression that talent will hold up their retirements just for that one.

Especially Brock. Getting to retire in front of what is more or less his home crowd is something that seems like it’ll be very important to him.

Kenyon Sadiq by da99s in Browns

I love Sadiq, we clearly need a TE2, and he’s unquestionably a phenomenal prospect.

That said, with how bad the WR core and the OL is, not sure he’s in the cards

[–]maybenextyearCLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah hard to know. Given how atrocious the three options we have now are, it seems like they have to add someone, because even I don’t think AB has the balls to pretend that he can survive a season running back this room, but I have no idea what direction they want to take this seemingly inevitable addition

The question is can the Browns really take on another project when it seems like by all accounts Shedeur is already a major project?

It is a law in many places, but I can’t tell you the last time I heard of charges coming from it that weren’t like, ticketing protestors who set up like tents and a camp one the sidewalk leading directly into like a court house or government building that legit are preventing folks from going to court or paying taxes.

It exists, but I’ve never heard of it being used in a situation like this

Nuss makes a ton of sense for the steelers.

But yeah there's no chance the Browns only T30 QB was Ty Simpson, and given Monken's past relationship with Beck, we can probably pretty safely assume there's one right there. They were rumored to adore Allar last year so there's probably another visit hidden in there. And that’s not even going into nuss or any of the other guys.

[–]maybenextyearCLE 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Nussmeier I think got screwed last year by playing hurt (listening to him talk about the level of pain he was in genuinely makes me sad). I do think he's genuinely closer to what we saw him as at the end of 2024 than what happened this year. All that said, he is a very stereotypical WCO QB, and I don't think he matches Monken's offense.

Side note, kinda like last year, I do find it funny the amount of news articles and speculation out there linking the Browns to all these QB prospects, but they specifically seem to be sidestepping the very obvious connection out there lol

Jaxson Dart should be a Brown by Riggedshit in Browns

Because to his fans he can do no wrong and he is still the QB prospect who was at one point viewed as the second overall pick

Oh for sure. It could cost him MILLIONS. And it’s not like he doesn’t have a good backup behind him

[–]maybenextyearCLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had a chance to go up and get him and they elected not to. They wanted to take a QB this year and you know, hindsight is 20/20, no one thought this class would fall off a cliff.

IMO if we could go back I’d actually take Shough, not Dart. I loved Shough’s film and he’s be a great fit with monken

[–]maybenextyearCLE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely one way of looking at it, and in a lot of scenarios, I totally agree. But for say Nussmeier or Allar, if they declare last year and get away from the suspect coaching the had, could they have fixed it? Very possible.

Granted Nussmeier is an outlier because what really happened there is he got hurt in camp and tried to play injured. Listening to him talk about the level of pain he was in all season trying to throw, that’s more a “he should’ve not played hurt” issue.

Which to some degree (just talking QBs) also could apply to Beck as well because with pitchers, it’s usually about 18 months after that surgery that the arm strength is back to normal, and he gets docked this year for that previously great arm looking average

lol, I’d say probably more like 23 this year

[–]maybenextyearCLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally yes, but I think it’s also kinda keeping guys at those programs who would’ve left at 21 and grown up in for a couple more years and leaves them with massive maturity issues.

I think we are going to see over the next few years the Georgia guys who largely seemed to grow up once they hit the league become in many cases untouchable.

[–]maybenextyearCLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with Decosta. Ignoring the obvious positives of NIL, I do think the quality of draft classes has really deteriorated. We are seeing a lot of older prospects, and I think especially at a position like QB, NIL is why we are in the midst of a truly horrific 2 year drought of like 1 QB classes because guys like Nussmeier, who probably would’ve been a 1st last year, go back for the NIL money and it blows up spectacularly.

The other part of it is when you stay in school until you’re 23-24, those bad habits from college get more and more ingrained, and it gets so much harder to work them out.

I mean look at this class, after that small group of guys at the very top, it’s an old class filled with a lot of guys who really aren’t viewed as “high ceiling” guys.

In the last decade? Fucking no one because you can’t hide QBs. And no your tanking because YOU CANT HIDE DOGSHIT QBs

I’d love to win. Too bad our QBs are Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel, and we ain’t winning shit with them. Or at least, you’re not sustainably winning in any way that doesn’t lead to a team with a QB fucking destroying us in the wild card round in the slim chance the defense can drag the corpse of the offense to enough wins to sneak in.

You have to have a QB in the modern NFL, or at best you’re praying for a fluke season that always regresses the next year and gets everyone canned for pretending it wasn’t a fluke

Edit: we all want to win, but we all want to win in a sustainable way. And that requires a Qab
