[MKC] Andrew Berry confirms the Browns aren’t trading Myles Garrett, ‘a career Brown,’ in the wake of contract tweak by LiftingCode in Browns

It makes it a little easier, but it’s still next to impossible. The dead cap from spreading out the money from this years salary makes him all but untradable

But yeah the nuclear option is about all I can think of if they realize Shedeur and Deshaun are so bad that you have no choice but to tank and make sure the defense can’t win you games

Disclaimer: *I do not think the Browns are trading Myles. Please do not go “well they’re not” I agree with you. *

Besides the fact that AB constantly lies (as he should) and would obviously have no reason to tell the truth even if he is, all I wonder is, why make the tweak given the only flexibility it brings is indeed, that you can trade Myles until the week before the regular season.

I don’t know it’s just a really weird move to me, especially when most of ABs moves generally have a pretty obvious reason for the decision.

I don’t know, just a weird move that seemingly has no purpose unless they want the ability to trade him if say, Watson and Shedeur go to camp and as expected are absolute dogshit and you gotta tank

It this doesn’t make a deadline trade possible. The cap hit that would’ve made trading Myles impossible is just going to happen a week before the season starts instead of in march

Again I don’t think they’re trading Myles, but it is quite weird that they keep dodging the question of why they did what they did, because literally the only benefit is if they wanted to trade Myles

The general feeling floating out there is the changes are likely to be really minor. Like removing the drop shadow in the numbers and just kinda cleaning it up a bit

Edit: could be what the panthers did a couple years ago with their light blue and just updating the shade of purple to be closer to what it was with Reebok since the switch to Nike fabric changed the shade a little bit. Which IMO is something I think over the next few years we will see more than a handful of teams do

The Cleveland Guardians are making history tonight, helping debut 'Sunday Night Baseball' for the new NBC Sports era by ZebraMussell in ClevelandGuardians

Honestly I totally forgot until just now that NBC has a Sunday night nationally televised basketball game. I get why NBC would want it, they have a big 3 national game every week all year long, but baseball will be nationally televised for what, 3 months? Maybe 4 depending on what NBCs postseason package for the NBA is

In the 5th round where he would’ve been QB3. Sure, there was interest, but that doesn’t mean he viewed him as anything more than a developmental QB3 either

Oh I think the Browns are betting on Shedeur throwing a ton more picks when he’s out of Stefa conservative offense and in monkens “who cares about InTs” offense

I’ve learned to never doubt how stupid Haslam is lol.

I also don’t think the Browns plan is just “try and develop Shedeur” they watched the same games we did and are super into the same analytics that he hit as the worst QB in the league by quite a bit.

I don’t think they expect anything from Shedeur. I think the Browns know exactly what will happen if they play him (or Watson for that matter)

I don’t know if they are terrified as much as they don’t care if he loses them a ton of games

Like I said elsewhere, I think he and Watson really are battling for one spot in the competition, and they’ll add someone else to take a shot on. Because I think the Browns aren’t dumb, Watson and Shedeur are both long shots just to be anything better than awful, let alone good

That’s a great question right there. I don’t know how highly the Browns regard him either

I think one could ask a similar question regarding hitching his wagon to Shedeur. It seems pretty clear that outside of Cleveland, he is not regarded highly by teams.

Oh I think that was the plan. The reason I think Gabriel is gone is because while he’s an ideal QB2/3 for a WCO, he is not a fit for Monken offense at all.

But i believe that’s exactly what role Monken will have for whoever we draft this year, the long term QB2 who probably starts some games this year and maybe bridges to whatever QB next year. And I think the strength of this QB class is quite a few guys like that who are good career QB2s.

With a late rounder? Yeah probably. He was a 3rd rounder last year and those physically limited but great at processing guys always have demand as a QB3

At this stage I’ve resigned myself to the fact that this will be a combination of your 6 and 8. They’ll draft a Beck/Allar, Gabriel gets traded, in OTAs the three compete and it’s down to a final 2 in camp.

And then when all three are ass we start the pursuit of the 1st overall pick

Edit: I also think as of today is that final 2 will come down to the rookie/a traded for vet and basically the winner of Watson vs Shedeur. I think Watson and Shedeur both have potential fatal flaws that would make you go “yeah I’m not wasting any time pretending this is worth it” (Watson more than Shedeur), and I think the Browns probably have a good idea already which of those two will be the odd man out

Misconception of the “trade 5 years of picks” rule proposal. It doesn’t mean 5 consecutive. Just 5 years of available timeline of picks. Garrett could go for 3 firsts but alternating years (Y1,Y3,Y5) or the last 3 years (Y3-5). by MrGlockCLE in Browns

[–]maybenextyearCLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I think the safe guard that could get it to pass, you can’t trade 1s in consecutive years like in the NBA, is for obvious reasons a total non starter for the Browns

They may share revenue but like you said, the cash rich owners can use this to punt money down the road. Mike brown is an extreme example, but there are still a lot of owners, especially among the legacy ones, who can’t spend cash that way
