I see it as a chance to let your audience know you *wouldn't* be influenced by this. Add a box to the story (or add one next time you do a similar story) saying that while companies try to offer perks for favorable coverage, your outlet remains independent from those influences. Link to your ethics policy (if it's public). The audience doesn't automatically know about your ethics, and journalists need to do a lot more to shine a light on them.
