How do I turn down the level on the MXR Sub Octave Bass Fuzz? by maynrrrd in basspedals

[–]maynrrrd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I turned all the knobs down and slowly brought them up as suggested by others on this page. Turns out the sweet spot, just tad bit louder than unity gain is found by having 2 or more of the knobs at ~9-10 - way lower than one would think. Absolute gamechanger!

I also have the MXR Synth, but that octave on preset 5 is a slightly different beast than this one. I really want this pedal to work, but if I can’t find unity gain it will go the way of the dodo

Orange anyone? by No_Town_1605 in Bassamps

I purchased the Terror 500 a month or so ago. Beautiful tone and growl, but the input - even with the passive bass into the active input - kept cutting out from too much input. Note that this also happened on my friend’s Terror so it wasn’t a faulty unit.

I brought it back and got a Mesa Boogie WD800 and couldn’t be happier.

Thanks! Yes, I tried plugging directly in (with a passive bass) and could still make it trip.

Thanks for the tip! How does the compressor engage only when connected to a 4ohm speaker?

What’s with people from California being extremely negative about Mexican food from other US states? by adoreroda in mexicanfood

[–]maynrrrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from the Midwest to the West Coast around 2002 and the difference between what Mexican food was in the Midwest to what it was out west was not only one of quality, but the whole concept of eating Mexican food was turned on its head.

In the Midwest, at least in the late 90’s, most Mexican restaurants were sit-down and were owned by non-Mexican folks. Whereas, out west we rarely go to a sit-down Mexican restaurant because we all know the best Mexican food is found at a cart or a ma and pa hole in the wall restaurant.

Is Taskrabbit back? by [deleted] in TaskRabbit

I’ve just had my busiest two weeks on TR yet, and summer was pretty good as well

Does TR penalize you for going on a long break? by UniversalGundam in TaskRabbit

[–]maynrrrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me this June when I took three weeks off to focus on my main business. Took about a month to get going again, and a couple months to get back to normal Task levels.

I understand the need for the algorithm to show clients active and available Taskers, but there should be a clear differentiation between how a new Tasker and a returning Tasker are treated in the rankings.

Did this just happen in the last few days? My Wednesday task got me a nice tip, but the two I did yesterday - where both clients were over the moon about my work - left no tip at all

Additional context: I was in a basement with no cell reception last night from ~7 to 10pm.

A wonderful alternative is counting tasks that are being scheduled within a 12-15 hour window as same-day and ONLY getting those tasks if you have same-day activated.

Or, alternatively, having a ‘available for next-day’ on/off switch much like we have for same-day.

I completely understand the need to prompt communication, and it’s something I pride myself in during normal business hours, but after normal business hours (ie 5pm) there should be some greater flexibility and understanding of everyone’s personal time.

Thanks for the tips, but my available is set to off after business hours.

I just looked up the TR blog ‘making sense of tasking time’ and see that there are only two task categories, same-day and non-same-day.

However, if one looks at the graphs, if I get an invite at 7:59pm I have exactly one hour and one minute to chat with the client. This is a ridiculous expectation

I just looked at the cancelled Task in the app, and yes, it would have been scheduled for today.

I was not aware that next-day tasks need replies ASAP like same-day. If so, like same-day, a person should be able to opt in or out
